[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

Like this comment will make any difference but I’ve had Spotify for 6+ years and this lack of feature support has me seriously considering moving to Apple Music. Apple Music also recently started adding lossless audio for music festivals. Just another nail in the coffin for my Spotify support.

I switched to Apple Music two months ago and, so far, the experience has been great. Not just HomePod works as it should, but -with the required equipment- you can enjoy your music in lossless format.

Hi Spotify, the year is almost 2022. Please implement this feature, thank you!

Indeed! Christmas did nothing to soften their attitude. Maybe a New Year
resolution. In meantime I followed up the Shazam 5 month offer that was so
helpfully posted. It worked seamlessly. Well worth a try.

4 more days until new years, 2022, this strand has been going on since 2020, far too long. we’ve been waiting for around 2 years for this feature. i know it’s hard you you guys to listen in and implant it, but the homepod community has been growing larger and larger, and we are ready for it. its still a live idea, its been 2 years and the community is still waiting for it. i don’t know if you guys are waiting for the big spotify event or the new main update, but speaking for this strand and the spotify-using-a-homepod community, to the spotify gods, may you please add this feature. thank you for your time.

That would be so sweet to call for some

loved songs instead browsing the phone.

I had to shift to Apple Music after buying a HomePod. Moreover, they offer lossless, lyrics with great UX and of course they support HomePods. Moreover, I am a student and Apple Music does not limit the student plan up to only three years, thus, Apple Music is cheaper for me. So, I have to say goodbye, Spotify. Hope, your users will see features offered by other services at least in 2022...

I pay for Apple Music. Use it on my HomePod when I need tracks with better sound quality.

it’s a shame Spotify hasn’t been paying attention to its users. Forget HiFi, the audio quality doesn’t hold a candle to regular aac Apple Music tracks
