[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

why is this still not implemented?

probably because some people keep paying their subscription and asking the same question a hundred different ways expecting different results.
so if you haven’t already, stop paying, stop asking the same, make it costly for them not to address this and move on.

^^ My thoughts exactly. How many actually cancelled their plan that suggested they would. Spotify is banking and probably right in thinking most here won't.

Switched to Apple Music. It’s just better. Found more songs from YouTube playlist exported compared to Spotify. Apple Music is even cheaper with 1$ in my country. Even if Spotify will implement this, I don’t think I will switch back to Spotify. I have Alexa and Google Hub, but I think that Spotify just not worth the price.
Good luck!

Still no update? I’m a Spotify user of 7 years and this is making me change to Apple Music.

Been getting tons of ads for the Spotify "Car Thing" that brilliantly
costs $89.99 and still requires a mobile phone and a premium account.

You see how much #spotifycares about their customers?

Been off my family premium account for more than a month now and truly
don't miss much of the service and suspect as time goes on I'll forget
whatever had me there.

Currently enjoying all the benefits of Apple Music: homepod / multizone
audio, lossless audio, spatial audio (via the apple tv music app... wow
just wow!!!) real apple watch app.

Stop holding your breath homepod will not happen, they could've done it
but are choosing not to because they hate apple and want to punish their
users.

But hey, Did you know they offer podcasts now? 🙂

tryingtothink
Yes. I wonder if there is someone high profile who would do a podcast about
this----

I agree about Apple Music. I just quietly watch this now with horrified
fascination.
abricko
Ha!  Why would _he_ do a podcast on this to bite the hand that feeds
him?  He's now 100% a corporate shill.  I used to enjoy his show more
when he was a bad Art Bell/Coast to Coast impression.

I also enjoy watching this and feel for the people hanging on for what
will not ever come.  But hey, have you seen our car thing? We're
advertising this vaporware like crazy and will eventually abandon it
because it's redundant in most modern vehicles with a screen and
CarPlay/Android Auto or whatever google is calling it this month.

I would love to listen to my Spotify playlists by just asking Siri. I’m also looking forward to ask Siri to play songs from my Spotify account.

However, I’m sorry to see the lack of communication and anticipation from Spotifys side here. We are the customers who use the services and we are the once who take the damage of large enterprises that cannot deal with each other.

As a customer, the things I can do is to suggest offers I’m looking for to use and switching service if that fails. I don’t like the last option but I can’t really do anything else.

Spotify, your customers are being hurt by the lack of communication from your side. Please update us. Don’t devalue your service - you can compete with Apple because you have one advantage; your customers.

Your customers want to stay, so help them. Give your word to them and don’t loose them. Keep your customers and gain more by communicate with them and offer great services. That is how you compete with giants like Apple. No tech giant can win if you always step up the game in cooperation with your customers.

This is embarrassing now… do better spotify

abricko
LOL, if by now you don't realize Spotify is for the exact opposite of
"do better" you're in for quite a ride 🙂
