[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

What are the updates? It’s been years since this comment was posted.. you keep closing out and redirecting everyone here yet provide no updates. Last thing I want to do is leave Spotify for Apple Music but you’re making the decision more and more easier with each passing day, week, month, and year of neglect. This is an easy build from an architecture standpoint and one you do today across doesn’t of other smart products. From alarm clocks to thermostats. Is your CEO’s pettiness really still blocking this?

This is the only thing stopping me from switching back to spotify

it's shocking that this features is still missing on Spotify after 3 years while other music streaming services had it. Would certainly switch away to other streaming platform because of this.

“Say what?”. Spotify is adding “AI DJ”, but they still can't add Airplay 2 and homepod support. They clearly don't care. Move on, friends. Switch to Apple music.

I’m off to Apple Music. Had a pair of homepod minis crying out for spotify support for years, and having to play off my phone using airplay is a ball ache as I then can’t watch videos while I have music or a podcast playing in the background

wait… three years ago? Spotify, welcome in 2023. Now you bring an AI DJ… woooow… we all need AirPlay 2 and the HomePod integration.

I’ve been waiting too long for this feature. Moving on… Apple Music here I come.

I doubt that Spotify is dragging their feet. If a speaker manufacturer doesn't want to support Spotify Connect, they won't. It is Apple who won't allow Spotify to play on HomePods natively.

Use B&W Formation Flex for a similar form factor speaker that works with Spotify.

@seldomused Apple made the API publicly available in 2020. What should Apple do? Develop Spotify support themselves? It's a developer work to make his service compatible with the API provided by a manufacturer. Or do you think that the Spotify app you find on the smart TVs is developed by the TV manufacturer and not by Spotify?

@seldomused This is not an Apple issue and hasn't been for a few years. There already are other services native to the Homepod. Spotify is the one that has to get it done. Why do you think this 150+ page thread that started in 2020 is still going?
