[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

Re post of my comment as it is marked as spam and have been removed by Spotify only because of changes...

Hi Spotify Team!

Please, implement this feature as soon as possible. I'm a Spotify premium user and I need it as I have Homepod / Homepod mini speakers. I really need this feature and I'm looking to switch to Apple Music because of the lack of this feature on Spotify. Don't you have any considerations for your own customers? Do you forget your services must be for end-customers and must be as easiest as possible? Do you really want to loose customers and market business only because you don't want to add more "normal" features? It's sounds like Spotify has a big Ego...

"Spotify / Apple war" is not interesting for end-customers. Only services and easy way to use them is important for us, even more when we pay for them (and of course also to Spotify). Maybe Apple is not "fair" for your business but your are doing the same for all your customers by not providing full features.

On your website https://timetoplayfair.com/facts/, you say "Apple Won’t Let You Access Spotify on All Your Devices"

Now, it is not right anymore from months as Apple can let us select the Default Music App for Siri on Homepod. So, don't look for excuses!

End-customers are fed up of your pseudo "War with Apple". There needs are only to have fully fonctionnal products and services. Now, it's all up to you to provide this feature... and keep your customers happy...

Thanks from France.

I signed up for a 90 day free test drive of Pandora premium today. It works flawless with HomePod. I have an original HomePod and three HomePod minis. The native support of Pandora is great! I guess Spotify has three months to implement HomePod support or the family plan gets cancelled and transferred to Pandora. I'd rather stick with Spotify but it seems I may have to switch.

"Apple launches HomePod – the smart speaker that, like Siri, will do loads of cool stuff in response to voice commands. Well, lots of cool stuff except playing music through Spotify. Apple welcomes other apps to play on it, but until recently shut the door on competitive music streaming apps like Spotify." (https://timetoplayfair.com/timeline/)

I got the point that Apple refuses a lot of ideas of you and they play not fair because Apple Music can do everything on the Apple Ecosystem. But now the time hae come and Apple finally allows native support for other streaming plattforms than just Pandora and Apple Music.

I'm asking you at least for an update to the post of robotoman22. Are you working on it? Will you release it soon?

Thank you.

"Hey Spotify, let's play music on my Homepod"!

Ok, now me.

It‘s 2021. I‘m paying by monthly subscription for listening to my favorite music. I‘m paying also for premium OS and hardware. Both payments go the largest shops in these areas. Unfortunately they are crying like babies because company A is not willing to run a few-100KB-binary on the platform of company B, even when hundreds of thousands of customers would really like that to happen.

These kind of clownfiestas are stealing time, energy, fun and kill babies for really neglectable reasons. So stupid. I‘m not far away to leave this digital bullsh1t byside and become pure analog again. The past was indeed better, I‘m convinced now.

Really hope this gets more attention! It would really be a game changer with the homepod mini

Seems like Spotify is not interested into Apple users at all, but increasing revenue out of Apple users even when treating them like 2nd-class citizens they are trying hard.

Really fighting Apple that way is just bad for everyone, and Apple is really not a company to fight against. Just look at your employees workstations, dear Spotify, I bet 95% of them use Macs and that for a reason (even with alternatives around).

Just because other ecosystems gain you more revenue that doesn‘t mean that the others are bad or are thieves necessarily. I rather pay more than letting Google sell my personal data.

It‘s not really difficult to switch to another music source. Spotify you really want Apple users to use something else? How about a statement? I thought customer centricity in your agile world is a real thing and not just marketing blabla.

It's a joke what spotify is doing here! Get to work an let us hear our Musik where we want to! It's simple as it is. If u not let me hear my Musik on my homepod i'll change to Apple Musik, would be cheaper anyways for me, and i'll not come back after this.
