[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

I've tried several mags/newspapers/journalists and not one has even
acknowledged. Others have tried too. You'd think one of the 3K would be a
voter.

There's a bit of info in here. Not convinced it is right about being able to ask Siri to play something from Spotify. Maybe journalist has inside experience.

Apple says no, you can't swap the default music player in iOS 14.5 after all | TechRadar

So you can ask Siri to play music from Spotify on your iPhone/Apple Watch by just adding “On Spotify” but not on the HomePod because Spotify hasn’t made an app for it (HomePod requires developers to make an app for it since it is it’s own platform). Others, like Pandora, have made an app for HomePod. So all you have to do is add “on Pandora” and it will play on the HomePod

@mrricearonie that is unfortunately the problem, the HomePod is not running an app, if it was the case they would have slapped Spotify connect on top and call it a day but it is not they have to adapt their service directly and let HomePod call it...

I might consider switching to Apple Music if Spotify isn't coming to HomePod anytime soon. Having to use AirPlay all the time is kinda annoying.

Another unresponsive, yet predictable, week from Spotify.

Since there are around 3000 votes on this thread just for the issue of Lack of Spotify support on Homepod mini,I suggest the below:

someone with some social presence/ knowledge will kindly open a Facebook group or whatever he chooses.

3000 supporters who may move to Apples Music due to lack of such support means around 30,000 USD per month of revenue to Spotify and growing.

Spotify Product manager can prioritize his internal feature requests based on that pretty easily.

fair enough ?

I'm in, however, I don't have social media though. 🙈😂

What do you say?

Shall we switch to apple music next month? The only thing big companies understand is money. All of us 3000 here may be a **bleep** in the sea for spotify, but we have to start somewhere. We got nowhere from asking for it, we barely got an answer.

If it's Apple who's the culprit or pure incompetence on Spotifys part, who knows. Any kind of a non-generic-answer would be nice.

Is this how we customers are treated by the world's largest music streaming service?
