[iOS][iPadOS][macOS] Support for interactive playback widget

Hi, in the new iOS 17/iPad OS/Sonoma update Apple is adding support for interactive widgets. I would love if you could experiment with adding this feature to Spotify as it isn’t currently supported.

The widget could come in multiple sizes, ranging from a simple pause button to a full album cover, upcoming music and the ability to scroll in a song or podcast for the big screens.

EDIT: Thanks for the support, remember to like the idea, so we can get this feature implemented 😁!

@Spotify Team, please consider enhancing the interactive widget by incorporating the ability to 'like' songs (add to favorites) directly within it.

I'm currently utilizing a paid MacOS application, Sleeve, to emulate a widget offering:

  • Display of the currently playing song, inclusive of cover art and artist.
  • Playback controls: Pause, Rewind, and Skip.
  • A streamlined ‘Add to Favorites/Like Song’ feature, which automatically adds the song to the ‘Liked Songs’ playlist, utilizing Spotify API.

Implementing these features would significantly elevate user experience by extending enhanced functionalities to:

  • iOS, enriching iPhone widgets.
  • iPadOS, optimizing for iPad widgets.
  • iOS StandBy, enabling access in StandBy mode.
  • MacOS, leveraging the innovations introduced with MacOS Sierra, enabling seamless integration and display of iPhone's widgets on the desktop or Notification Center.

Your consideration of this enhancement would be highly appreciated by the user community seeking a more interactive and user-friendly experience.

It's the stupidest widget idea ever, and it would be amazing if Spotify could try to improve upon it, like perhaps you could have a mini player on your desktop? Perhaps the smallest widget would just show the album art with the play and pause button, and the larger would show more information. It's ridiculous that the claimed "widget" is just a picture that does nothing when you click on it.

I though it was already in the making?

It would also be nice to have a native MacOS desktop widget to function as a fully-fledged player, just like mobile devices have.

Please finally make the large widget if you do this!

Would absolutely love this feature! Would make it so much easer to play and pause music straight from my home screen.

Great idea! I love the new widgets feature on my desktop for my Mac. Would love to be able to play and pause my music through the widget.

This is a must. No reason to not have it.

This definitely needs to be a thing, I want to be able to play music without having to open the app, maybe have the playlists on the side so I can click on one and have it start playing

**bleep** a pause button widget would be so ideal
