[Android] App crashing when loading playlists

Hey folks!

You may have noticed that your Android apps might crash when you attempt opening your playlists. We've investigated this and found out that this may happen if they include local files.

We're currently looking into this but, in the meantime, we've confirmed that clearing you app's cached data and going for a complete clean reinstall should solve the issue 🙂

Working on resolving this. We'll keep you posted!

Every other playlist I scroll, works without issue but this one specific playlist crashes if I scroll down long enough. I think it's the songs but I don't know which it is, because if I duplicated the playlist the same problen occurs. Could the problem be because my playlist has too many korean characters??

This is also happening to my daughter. She doesn't have an SD card on her Samsung S23. What can we do to fix the issue? It only exits the app if you scroll through the library or home screen.

Same problem also on android. No problems in the web browser or the desktop program but the android app keeps crashing.

But it also happens, if I scroll far enough in a large Playlist with all my songs.

It's being a few days my spotify keeps closing after a start listing music. I try to restart the app but nothing it's working.  Anyone is having the same problems..

Please help ...

As I already mentioned in my previous post, I have removed the problematic song from my liked songs and playlists. For some reason, the song just appearing on the screen/list didn't cause a crash in liked songs, unlike in playlists and local songs. I tapped the three dots next to the song to remove it from both my liked songs and playlists. However, I couldn't remove it from my local songs that way since it doesn't appear as an option. The only way to remove it from my local song list is to delete the song from my device, and even though I did remove it from my device, the song still remained in my local song list. Since my phone and computer do not share the same local storage, I cannot remove it from my computer.

Anyway, a clean reinstall resolved the issue for me. Not only was the song removed from my local song list, but adding it back after a clean reinstall did not cause problems anymore. This means if you are experiencing exactly the same problem as me, you likely don't need to identify the specific song(s) that are causing crashes before performing a clean reinstall.

I should note that the other problem I mentioned in my previous post still persists, even after the clean reinstall. I am talking about choosing a song directly from my phone's files and selecting Spotify as the player, which still causes the app to crash immediately. However, since I don't typically use that feature, I am not too concerned about it.

ある特定のプレイリストだけ開くと強制終了します。他のプレイリストや検索、アーティストからは曲も聴けるしバックグラウンドで聴くことはできますが…

Hey folks,

We've merged some posts about a similar issue here since it has the same root cause.

Just wanted to let you know that we’re aware of the issue, so our teams are on the case as we speak. Hopefully we'll have a fix soon! Be sure to keep automatic updates switched on so you get the fix when it’s ready:  https://support.spotify.com/article/updating-spotify/

In the meantime, feel free to try clean reinstalling the app as this has resolved the issue for some users.

Cheers,

Getnoutside

I am having the same issue on android.  It just stated happening. When I scroll down the library list, Spotify crashes at the same location.
