[Android] Unable to play music, all playlists appear empty

We've received reports from Android users that they're unable to play songs from Search. In addition, all playlists in the app appear empty. This is currently being investigated.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your patience and input so far.

We're setting this issue to Not Right Now since we're unable to provide an exact timeline for a fix at this moment. However, rest assured this will remain on our internal teams' radar and we'll check back in here with a new status when we have any new information to share.

In the meantime, it's recommended you keep the app up to date so that you're always running the latest version of Spotify.

Take care.

Similar to a previous user, this has now happened to me after switching from premium to a free account. All my playlists are still showing when I view spotify from a web browser, but nothing is in my app. I can't play ANY songs (even when I search for them individually), all playlists are empty, and all albums say 'tracks not available.' Does the 'free' account not exist anymore?!

  • Device(s) this is happening on, as well as the version(s) of the operating system(s).

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Android Version 14

  • The exact Spotify version you're using.

Spotify Version 8.9.34.590

  • If you've tried any troubleshooting steps.

Deleted cache, uninstalled the app, turned the phone off and back on, reinstalled the app, logged out and back in again, change name of cache folder

I have the same issue, tried everything(deleting cache/data, reinstalling, disabling the data saver etc), nothing works, made another account, well it works, on my old account it just doesn't want to show the playlist nor play songs

What if you don't have SD card installed

Astronote

Hi happened to me just yesterday but the previous days I can listen and browse songs fine. Tried all of the steps mentioned above but still problem persist.

I'm on android 14 no SD card used

Edit:

Welp NVM I found a solution. I just configured the country I'm in. Cause I just recently moved in another country

Just configure your country on your profile. Note: Can only be done on web

Hey @ShiroiBara,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

This type of issue is commonly related to some damaged cache still stored on your device. We understand you’ve already tried some troubleshooting steps including reinstalling, but to be sure that we're on the same page - did you use the steps for a clean reinstall mentioned in this article?

If the issue persists, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.

Lastly, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

We'll be on the lookout.

Have tried clearing cache/data. uninstalling and reinstalling. changing password. on the web interface it works fine. also when I link my account to amazon alexa it cannot play music either
