Home screen not working

We're seeing reports that some users are unable to see content on their Home screen. This seems to happen both on the mobile app and on desktop.

While some users only see videos on mobile, others only see Recently played on desktop, or no content is being displayed under the Music tab.

Hey there folks,

Great news - things should now be back on track again! Just make sure to restart the app, and you should see the fix.

Cheers 🙂

This is so ridiculous. They killed the app. They literally killed it.

I use spotify since 2015 or 2014 and my first approach EVERY week is my Release Radar and my Discover Weekly. Next I check the new releases presented on the home screen.

The feature 'add songs to your playlist' is trash. Absolute trash. I listen to recommendations like in my Release Radar and then I add them to playlists. I DECIDE to which one. Regularly I add new playlists to sort these tracks. Over the time I made over 250 of them.

For me a resident Club DJ, Spotify is a great tool to curate playlists, sort tracks, discover new ones. Sorry.. WAS! This new home screen f*cks it up.

If I want Tik Tok or youtube shorts I open these apps. Not Spotify. If they keep this layout I'll cancel my subscription. Not because I'm angry (and I AM!). Because this 'feature' (I have many explicit words for this sh.) makes Spotify unusable and obsolete. Absolutely(!) obsolete.

Congratulations Spotify. I literally never saw a worse decision in any app my whole life. I mean that. That's not 'not nice' that's dumb.

I can't believe this new update, I literally thought my app was bugging or something. I deleted the app and reinstalled it to see if it would fix the problem. I cleared cache and even contacted customer service to help me fix this "bug". To my genuine surprise and disappointed it turns out that it's just the new homepage format. Why fix something that isn't broken? The old home page was perfect! Bring it back!

I'm not quick to criticise updates of any kind but unfortunately this one is awful.

  • I have Canvas turned off for a reason and that setting doesn't apply to the new mobile home page.
  • It makes the home page disorientating and extremely busy.
  • Most of those clips are very flashy, which is never great for a landing page.
  • There's literally nothing useful on the home page now.
  • This is a music streaming app, not TikTok or Instagram. I'm here to listen to music, not watch videos.

I get it: profit, profit, trends, money, profit. But making every app be the same thing is not the way to make people want to use yours.

It seems to be fixed guys! Try restarting your apps or browser window and it should be back to normal

fooobar

It is not fixed.

It is a busy mess of useless animations that makes me stressed.

Should people sensitive to flashes not be able to use your app Spotify?

LeonKJ

It is. Just try restarting your app (force close it and reopen it) and after some seconds it should be back to normal. A lot of people are reporting the same on reddit.

Mobile app home screen is a mess now.

Random flickering stuff that makes you close the app right away.

Now it reverted back for me.

Now we all know what kind of changes we can expect in the future.

Developers have way too much power to control our devices and the way we use our applications. Somebody should do something about this problem. I don't want my app to change back and forth every freaking week! I'm on the spectrum myself, and for me, it's almost impossible to adapt to visual changes. What these develpoers do, is that they torture innocent people with their **bleep**. We are paying customers. We want to use the app like WE NEED, not like Developer needs. For the love of... isn't there anything we can do about this??
