Playback issues related to the next song in the queue

We received reports that upon attempting to play a song that's been added to the queue manually (via the Add to queue option), the playback stops completely and the play buttons on the Now Playing View become greyed out, thus preventing advancing to the next track.

Hey there,

In case you're experiencing this issue, make sure to give it a thumbs up and provide us with the following info:

  • your device's make, model and OS version
  • the exact version of Spotify you're running
  • the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far

Thanks! We'll pass the details on to our tech folks so they can look further into this. In the meantime, try clearing the queue via the Clear queue button on the desktop app / Web Player to see if that does the trick.

As always, rest assured we'll keep you posted here as soon as we have any new information to share, so Subscribe to the thread from the three dots menu to stay tuned 👍

Hello! I've had the exact same problem on both my tablet and PC only in the app. Even when I try to skip or put something in the queue, it doesn't work. If I want to listen to music, I need to go in the website from Google.

I’m also having the same problem, I deleted stored cache, reinstalled spotify, logged out, restarted my device, and still nothing works. The web player still works though, please fix this problem soon, thank you.

I have discovered a temporary workaround for this.  Drag the track you would have normally done an "add to queue" function on over from your playlist to your queue as the first in line to be played next.  It's a workaround.  This is not a solution.  It's a temporary substitute for the long-term fix.  You can drag as many tracks as you like over like this.  It pretty much accomplishes the same thing as the actual "add to queue" function without having the separate "Next in queue" heading with the "Clear queue" button.

For quick solution reinstall app and don't use add to queue option.

my autoplay is not working and when i want to click on the next song, it also does not work. This problem has occurred across all devices. What should I do?

I have been having the same problem for about 2 days now. Also on all devices. Its so annoying because it makes spotify just unusable for me.

Same issue here. Queue used to work nicely for a few years, but today started blocking after playing one track. "Clear queue" removes the queue, but does not help with the issue: once I add some tracks to the queue again, it stops after one track. Reboot and changing playback device to my phone and back didnt help either>

If i playback an album (not queue it) — it plays ok

My Issue

When I’m listening to music on Spotify and I chose to queue a song, when my current song ends and the queue song is meant to play, my screen goes slightly grey, and the song itself stops and won’t move onto the next song. And I’ll have to press a different song and then it’ll work. No songs in my queues works. I’ve tried deleting Spotify and redownloading it, but that doesn’t work. I’ve restarted my iPad and that doesn’t work. I’ve updated my iPad and that doesn’t work either.
