Playlist scrolling position resets when navigating away from the app

Hey folks,

We received some reports mentioning that the position on the playlists resets when navigating away from the app. This is currently Under investigation by internal teams.

Hey folks,

Thanks for your confirmations.

We’re happy to say that this should now be fixed for everyone with v. 9.0.44! Just make sure your app is updated to its latest version.

Cheers!

I've been having the same issue as well. I had contacted spotify support privately and tried all the methods listed above. I clean reinstalled, double checked on different devices and such. It only happens with playlists that have more than a 1000+ songs. The rest of my playlists work fine and don't auto scroll to the top. Spotify support recommended I waited for a phone update or an app update. It's been almost 3 months and it's still the same. Could I get some help?

Same story. Went around the work office, all the same. Apple, samsung, google, all phones. They need to stop pretending this is a rare occurance. At the price range I'm getting kind of fed up and about to bail.

After opening the app, and going onto my liked songs playslist and choosing a song or not, if I swipe off the app, it doesn't open on where I left off. For example if I scroll down, then swipe off the app, and go back on it, it will sometimes open at the exact same spot almost at the top of the playlist, even when I originally scrolled to bottom, it just refreshes to the top of the page. Never used to happen, and the app and software is up-to-date

Hey @RossG,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

To start investigating this behavior, would you mind confirming if you've already tried to perform a clean reinstall of the app on your device? If not, we'd recommend following the steps mentioned in this article

If the issue persists, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.

Lastly, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

We'll be on the lookout for your response.

I'm having the same problem since 3 days . I have 1500+ songs on liked songs playlist . Its quite tiring scrolling down again and again. I never had this problem before.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have tried reinstalling the app but it's not fixed it. I don't have this issue when using Spotify on my macbook, so I don't know what's wrong. I've made a screen recording to help show the issue but can't attach it here as the limit is 5 MB

Hey @RossG,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the clarification.

To continue investigating this issue, it would also be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member, to see if the issue persists.

Also, the screen recording you mentioned could be very helpful to take a better look. If the page doesn't let you attach the video, you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to watch it).

Lastly, remember to include in your reply the make, model, and OS version of the affected device, along with the Spotify version you have currently installed.

We'll be waiting for your response.

Hi. I'm unable to use someone else's account, as I'm the only person in my household that uses Spotify, but might be able to ask someone from college tomorrow to try it out. And yeah sorry I made a note of the technical stuff but completely forgot to add it. I'll also add the link to the screen recording. Thanks for your help.

happens to me as well, started happening around november 2024 on my s20 fe 5g, and when i switched to my s23 it persisted. pretty sure it's because my playlist is very big. it bothers when i'm walking, because i gotta scroll all the way down to where i was listening or wanna listen to.

Hey @RossG,

Thank you for keeping in contact.

We really appreciate the info you've included in your post, it's very helpful. To have all the info to pass it to the relevant teams to continue investigating this, would you mind checking if it happens in all the playlists you have or is it just in the Liked songs playlist?

Also, does it make any difference if you're playing the music directly from your phone instead of using Connect with your headphones?

Lastly, remember to include in your next response the result you got testing this with a different account from someone in your college.

We'll be on the lookout for your response.
