My Question or Issue

Hi! For some time now i've noticed a major shift in my autoplay that has really been impacting my experience negatively. Up until a few months ago, I loved leaving spotify on autoplay because it would play similar songs i liked or that I was really listening to around that time and it sometimes would also throw in there a couple of throwbacks from my liked songs. Sometimes it flowed so well it seemed like it was a playlist created by me. Sure you'd sometimes have the odd song out but it wasn't as frequent as what's happening now.

Since a couple of months ago, it's been so unpleasant to rely on autoplay. I get recommended artists and songs that are nowhere near similar to the song i first played and it has nothing to do with my music taste. Before, let's say an artist I liked released a song and I listened to it 7 or 8 times in the span of 2-3 days. Autoplay would start suggesting it after other songs because it recognized how i listened to it and I found myself getting more into the song because of it. Now I have to skip 5 or 6 songs to get to one I like. Now the odd songs are the ones I actually like or listen to. I find that I have to manually select the songs much more now and can no longer rely on autoplay to deliver good well balanced recommendations and it's very off putting. It's worth noting that my listening habits have not changed, I tried turning off smart shuffle thinking it would fix it and it stayed the same. The problem seems to be with the algorithm. If this isn't the case and i'm doing something wrong, what could solve the problem and bring back the way autoplay was?

Thanks in advance!

Hey @franciscomata10

Thanks for reaching out to the Spotify Community about this!

We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and your feedback about the Spotify algorithm.

We're always trying to bring people closer to the tunes they love while helping them discover new musical adventures. In the meantime, users can influence what we offer them by listening to what they like and by actively interacting with the app.

To ensure better recommendations, you can explore the option exclude content you don't like from your taste profile. A faster alternative is to tap the X button for songs you don't enjoy. This way you'll make sure that you're given fewer recommendations that are similar to them.

In conclusion, the more you let us know what you like or don't like, the better your recommendations should get with time. We're also constantly working on making things better on our end.

Hoping that your future listening brings you plenty of great discoveries. We're always here if you need more help.
