Can't remove podcast from "your shows"

Can't remove podcast from "your shows"

So I've had this issue for a while. If you take a look at the picture, you can see that when I'm on my homepage, the first thing that pops up is the "ASMR with Amouranth" podcast.

First of all. I do not listen to podcasts and not plan on ever doing this. However, all I see on my homepage on my phone and iPad are podcasts. The first tab is "your shows" (on my pc I see this podcast as the first one and other random podcasts that are recommended). I listened to this podcast for literally 2 seconds, because I was curious what it was. Now, after 3 months, I still see this podcast as the first thing on my homepage.

My first question to the support team is, why is there not a way to customize your homepage? Literally all I have are random podcasts on my homepage. I have Spotify for music and not for podcasts, so I would like to add my own tabs, like for instance a genre and playlists.

I get that you guys have this layout for the homepage to recommend more artists to more people, but like please, let someone decide for themself whether they want certain catagories of music or podcasts on their homepage or not. For instance, with YouTube, on your own channel page, you can add and remove catagories like "most watched" and "most recently uploaded". On Spotify there is not a single customisation you can do to your homepage. Why is that?

Now what I'm mainly here for:

I have tried everything to remove the podcast. Next to the show there's a button to add more podcasts. When I add random podcasts, I can also remove those. However. With the "ASMR with Amouranth" podcast, I can add it, even though it's already for some reason and when I remove it, it stays there. I do literally the same thing as I do with random podcasts, but this one doesn't go away. I tried selecting everything as 'finished listening to' and doing the same as above, but that doesn't work. Selecting everything as not listened to also doesn't work.

HOW do I remove this podcast? I've tried literally everything.

I did think of that but it is no fault of the podcast and they shouldn't be rated badly just to remove it.

I will make sure I have rated all the ones I do listen to first and see what happens.

Thanks

Nope.

Less than a week in and I am deleting spotify because of this.  How stupid can you be?

I have a similar issue with a different podcast. I don’t understand why. When it ends one of my actual podcasts I listen to it always starts playing one whose voice drives me up the walls. Shouldn’t have to listen to something I don’t want to on a service I pay for. PS glad to see you guys still have the same issue from 3-4 years ago.

Come on Spotify, calling it "Your Shows" and not making it easy customisable is not creating a good user experience. Call it something else, or make it customisable. Or am I too stupid to understand how the UI works? Then it's a bad design. UX is bad on my end. Extra bad, since I'm paying for something that shoves something I don't like into my face and calls it "Your Shows".

Good point! It really adds insult to injury, doesn’t it?!

Yes, call it ”Suggested Shows”, ”Shows Feed” or whatever, that would be better. Then think what it is good for, some tool to explore other shows that somehow could be of interest for the user. The bad thing is that podcast episodes take so long time to evaluate- no chapter division, getting to know what the host is all about, in short, what to expect from following that podcast, and so on. And the thing is intrusive. Also, it seems to automatically go to that list and choose those podcasts in autoplay. Sure, I want to hear new stuff, but for that, first, the suggestions have to get better.

Sure, the AI needs data to get better at choosing suggestions, I don’t mind that it’s tracking what I listen to regarding podcasts, too. But for that I have to get control over what data I feed it. Don’t shove the data into my face that way, that’s why I left Fecesbook.

I'm getting tired on**bleep** that I have on the first place in "My Shows" something I don't listen to! I report this everyday and it still there. Probably it's hidden advert. Why I see sponsored show when I pay subscription every month?

I've stopped listening to a podcast that keeps showing up in my 'what's new' even after I've unfollowed it. I want the space to be occupied by another podcast I actually listen to. How do I remove it from my library in it's entirety ?

So I decided to write to tech support and I must to admit - that was hilarious. 😄 The "recomandation" in "Your Shows" is always some of the biggest creator in a country, never a small one, which is for 99% a pure advert because I know that some podcasters pay a lot of money to be everywhere. Spotify lies it's not ad but just recomandation. For me the only podcaster I've been seeing for like over a year and don't listen to is Żurnalista and for some reason he's in the first place in order in my panel and replaced even the new creators I've recently followed. But remember - it's only rEComMendATIOnS!

Here's communication with tech support.

1) I described the problem. I made mistake and call "Yours Shows" "My shows", I correct myself later. Funny thing that tech support also wrote "My shows" 😄 I said that problem exists only on Windows App and this "artist" doesn't show in Android App.

2) So I reinstalled my Spotify Windows app like they said. Problem still exists but support tell me to try... with a mobile? For what? Also I correct myself about "Your Shows". I got advice how to hide something unwanted... but "if available"? What does it mean? Support doesn't know is something available or not?

3) Here comes also strange thing because this unwanted podcast doesn't show in left sidebar from "Your Library". It shows only in main panel (center) - I said about this to support. Advices 2, 3, 4 was pointless because I've already had clear install of Spotify so everything was fresh and cleaned.

4) Advisor gave up 😄 Redirecting to another one. Thanks for your patience ❤️ I was waiting over 20 minutes to get any new info/questions. I gave my e-mail connected to my acc. Then I received somewhat imprecise instructions to "click" (after all, on PC there are two buttons for this) on the podcast - I think "enter the podcast" would be better instruction. In any case, I had no option to "unfollow" since I didn't follow this man. I can only "follow" this podcast from "your shows".

5) Tech support doesn't know correct paths of their own software. They guide me on non-existent options or maybe those that exist in other versions of the app (mac, ios, android? I don't know) - there's no anything like "Setting & Privacy" anywhere in windows app. I guessed that he might want my username, so I gave it to him. Then he asked me if I restarted device... when hour ago (11:50) I said I completely reinstalled it.  I provided version of the Windows app.

5) Another misleading instructions, which I already pointed out to him

6) Here's the best. After over hours of conversation "smart" tech support asked my where I'm facing the issues after many times I said it's on Windows App and even gave them version of it. 😆
