Second post for this issue as the first post got listed under issue with Joe Rogan podcast video won’t play. My Spotify just won’t play the podcast, although the episodes are being updated. Saw some comments that say the issue’s been fixed, don’t think it’s entirely fixed. Can someone please look into this?

Also happening to me. Tried restart and reinstall but no dice. Joe Rogan is the only thing that won't play.

This only happens for the JRE podcast. Everything else plays without problem. It has been going on for some time now too... really annoying. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it again doesn't and then episodes just don't play

This doesn't help and I'm also not even using VPN, ever. This has been going on for so long now it's shocking it hasn't been fixed yet. I'm running on the 8.8.96.364 version of the app. Being Joe Rogan, I'd take my podcast elsewhere when my contract runs out. As a listener, I also pretty much had it with Spotify.

I am also experiencing this issue on any podcast with video. First noticed it with Joe Rogan. Using pixel 7a, phone and app updated. Seems like this has been going on for a lot of folks for a while. Soooo... help?

Hello, maybe just my S21 ultra but have found temporary fix. Disable Bluetooth and try to play if works re-enable Bluetooth and should now work. Will work for few episodes then fail again then repeat process. I imagine it is something to do with the cache set to % when using Bluetooth so with episodes being so long is causing an issue or......

• Does the issue persist on multiple devices?  Yes. The play button is disabled on my pixel 6 pro, m1 macbook pro, and newer windows 11 pc, also tried web player. All on different networks.
• Does it only happen with all Joe Rogan podcast episodes or other creators' podcasts as well? So far I've noticed Joe Rogan, Darknet Diaries and the Remap Radio podcast are not playing. All other podcasts I've tried have worked fine. Books work and music works.
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far and does any of them make a difference? I tried reinstalling the app. Disabling anti-virus. Using a VPN. Not using a VPN. seemingly nothing changed on my end. Podcasts worked for a long time with no issue, then they didn't.
• When did the issue start? First noticed around 12/2023, but figured it would resolve eventually. it has not.

Please fix this.

I've figured out a way to get around this issue, although the issue does still happen.  For one, I have new episodes downloading for offline use.  It still doesn't play those, but figured it might be a factor of my solution.

Whenever it won't play an episode, I go into settings, go to Apps, force close Spotify, and then clear cache.  Then reopen Spotify and it works.  It doesn't work if I just force close or just clear cache, has to be both.

This is on Pixel 6 Pro still.

Our teams are looking into this, but aren’t able to identify an issue on our end. Just to double-check you haven't missed out a step that might fix the issue, could you make sure that you have:
 

• The latest app version installed.
• A stable internet connection and no data limitation turned on.
• Spotify enabled for background activity.
• Battery saver and optimizer turned off.
• All permissions for Spotify enabled in your phone's apps settings.
• Tried reinstalling the app and cleared cache as described here.

It’s also worth testing it with a different account. You can create a new one for free, to check if the issue persists with the same podcasts.

In case you’re experiencing this on one specific device only, we also recommend reaching out to the device manufacturer for further assistance.

This has been happening consistently for months now. Its really annoying, and suspicious. Can literally play anything I like except JRE.

I have the same issue since a week back now. I'm glad JRE is going back to Youtube because the support for this issue on Spotify is neglectful at best. My web player won't play the episodes regardless if I'm at home or at the office, without and with VPN, on different browsers and I just tried the app to see if it works there, but no luck. And it's the only podcast that won't play, every other one works.

Still happening and involves all conservative podcasts (Rogan, Pat Grey and Glenn Beck). The podcasts Murder in America is working fine.  Spotify does not seem to care.

I'm using cellular data. Every other non-JRE content plays. It is only JRE that will not play. No error. Just sits there. Babyshark NWA, and even other podcasts play just fine. I've already listened to half of this particular episode. And here is a screenshot.

Reinstall doesn't help. I often get this after I've been listening for a long time and I fall asleep, it has stopped at the end of an episode and I wake up to start listening again. I don't get an error message at all, it just won't play and then the time stamps change to 0:00 - 0:00.

I have a Samsung S20.

Also, if I'm at an episode and I click "back to podcast" to choose another episode, why does it take me to the top and not to where I was last listening? I'm only on ep.1626 and it's a real pain to have to search for one episode at a time or scroll down 500 episodes to see what I want to listen to next.

I have the exact same issue as well I've had to uninstall and reinstall Spotify multiple times just to listen to the podcast. No other issues with any other music or podcast streaming. Just this one sounds like a conspiracy. Maybe it is. Hope it's not. Just want it back. Give me a solution please.

It’s happening again. I was playing the lastest episode of the JRE, then I paused to listen to a voice note on another app. And when I came back to it, it wouldn’t play, no image either or timeline, like the episode didn’t even exist. None of the other JRE podcasts will play, but all other songs I’ve tried do. It’s super annoying so can you please fix it?!

This issue is happening again now. No episodes of Joe Rogan will play; only the two commercials up front, then a few seconds of silence when the podcast should start, and then the episode closes out.
