Explicit lyrics

With young children we have “explicit” filters on. HOWEVER, when our kids view the lyrics it shows every curse word, or degrading lyric. How do we remove lyrics? Or how do we filter so “explicit” lyrics are removed from text. Kind of defeats the purpose, if your kids use the lyrics to learn the song and now they are cursing left and right.

Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community. 

We're afraid it's currently not possible to turn the lyrics feature off. However, it looks like other users would like to have this option as well and posted this idea. Despite its current status, you can still add your vote to it and if anything changes in the future, we'll make sure to keep everyone updated over there. The Idea Exchange is a great way for us to see what our users are interested in and how many people like a certain idea. Check out this Spotify Answer to learn more about it. 

On another note, we can confirm that the lyrics are provided by a third party. In this case, it's possible that if there isn't a clean version on their side, the app will show the regular version. In this case, would you mind sending us some URI examples of the songs you mention? We'll take a closer look.

I am also experiencing this problem. So embarrassing - my son was showing his friend in front of his mother. Shame on me for trusting that when I chose to filter explicit songs this would include the lyrics! I can't believe this is actually allowed to happen. Sort this out Spotify!!!
