I can't use Audiobooks on my Family plan.

Solved!

I can't use Audiobooks on my Family plan.

Hi,

I'm currently on a Family Premium plan. I wish to access Audiobooks, but I can't.

I did some research, and apparently only Plan Managers can use Audiobooks.

Why is this? And will this perhaps change in the future?

Thanks,

-Sam

Hey @Sammmm249,

Thanks for coming to the Community.

Right now, Audiobooks in Premium is available only on select plans and is limited to plan managers.

This means if you joined a Duo or Family plan as a member you won’t have access to the free listening time, but this is something that will be explored in the future to allow Family and Duo users to have more flexibility from their audiobooks access 🙂

For more info, you can also visit the following Newsroom article: https://newsroom.spotify.com/2023-10-03/audiobooks-included-in-spotify-premium/.

Hope this clears things up!

Disappointing that Spotify is doing this.  A family premium plan and only the plan manager has access??  So dumb and what genius at Spotify came up with that great idea??  They should be fired.  Also, premium plan managers or single plan premium are only allowed 15 hours of listening time per month???  I bet the same person who came up with the plan manager only had this idea too!  Spotify, listening to your customers!  Just charge a small additional price so everyone can listen to audiobooks with ZERO limits!!!

I agree this is ridiculous. I subscribed to a family premium so my son has access to his favourite audiobooks (he is on autism spectrum and reading books is his favourite pastime). He was excited but now he found out he can’t access this feature from his account. So Premium but not Premium. Clever!

I am the plan manager on a duo plan and still don’t have access to audiobooks…does anyone know how to make that happen? Thank you.

Hey @MP51,

To ensure that we can offer you the best help that we can, could you please create your own thread? Doing so is easy. Simply select the appropriate board here, and then select “Start a Topic.”

Thank you very much!

Doesn't seem like any help is being offered other than explaining the ridiculous set up. Perhaps you can answer the replies above instead of telling people to start their own topics. The good old exploring and looking into things gets old very quickly. Where is the follow up on this? How many months need to pass before things get looked into or adjusted? As if it makes sense having one person only able to access it out of the group.

Hi there @chiefy1,

Thanks for your reply in this thread.

At this time, the price point for these plans doesn’t allow for multiple audiobook allocations. We’ll be exploring ways for Family and Duo subscribers to have more flexibility from their audiobooks access in the future.

In the meantime, it seems other users feel the same way, and an idea has already been suggested here - feel free to add your vote to it!

This is a joke. Why am I subscribing to a family plan if my family can't use half of it. I'm going to have to look into Amazon and other platforms to see what there family plans offer.

As MP51, I am also the plan manager on my family account and am unable to access the 15 hours of audiobooks. I have tried logging in and out and searches through all of the settings, but nothing has worked. Can you explain how I can listen to them, please?

For me I just found a audio book I wanted to listen to then hit the pause symbol added it to my library then went to the library tab and it was there just open and hit play
