After applying 12 month gift card says "Subscribe to keep the tunes flowing"

Solved!

After applying 12 month gift card says "Subscribe to keep the tunes flowing"

I'm in the UK, I had a 3 month discount premium I cancelled recently and it expired yesterday 6 September so I was on Spotify Free yesterday.

I purchased a 12 month premium gift card and applied the code this morning which was accepted, and my Account Overview on a Windows 10 PC says my plan is now Premium (was Free) ending 7/9/22 but on the same page top left says

"How about making it official? Subscribe to keep the tunes flowing, no need to re-credit your account every month."
Under Payment it says "Your Spotify Premium ends on 07/09/2022. Subscribe now to keep the music going without top ups."

Why would I need to re-credit every month?
What's a top up?

What does it mean "making it official"?

Isn't it already?

Spotify on Android works as Premium and in "receipts" I can see the £119.88 for today so why these odd messages?

They don't go away if I log out and back in even using another windows browser.

Surely I don't need to subscribe now until next September - that was the point of the gift card!

Puzzled,

Geoff / mywaterloo

Hey @mywaterloo ,

You're right, those messages can be a bit confusing.

I've double-checked this with a Moderator of the Spotify Community and he also confirmed to me that this doesn't affect the remaining time of your pre-paid Premium at all. 🙂

Hey @mywaterloo ,

Thanks for reaching out.

The message "How about making it official? Subscribe to keep the tunes flowing, no need to re-credit your account every month."  is just suggesting you to use a recurring payment method so that Spotify can charge you monthly/yearly for Premium.

You don't have to take any action, though. 🙂 Your current pre-paid Premium is not affected by this.

Hope this helps!

Hi Maxim,

Thanks for your thoughts.

I attach a screen grab (with personal bits blacked out) which shows what I found confusing - underlined in red.

Of course I already have a recurring payment option attached to the account although I don't seem to be able to get to my card details now I have this gift card attached.

The messages seem confusing after spending good money on a gift card in order to save a little money over the year.

Hopefully all is well and you are right but I'll put this up for any comments

Having posted that screen grab I see that the important bits are too small so here's those bits enlarged.

Better wording would help
