every time i try get a premium individual it keeps saying im not eligible but won't tell me why?
Hey folks,
Thanks for reaching out in the Community.
Could you confirm that you still get the same error, even when trying to subscribe with the link @Hubo posted? If yes, try the following troubleshooting options:
Keep us posted on this.
Cheers!
Hi,
I've had my account for five years now and I have the exact same issue. Keeps trying to upgrade me to DUO and I can't renew my single sub. The price difference isn't significant but I will not allow spotify to bully me into buying a duo account when I'm the solo user.
I've tried forcing the logout method, which doesn't change the fact. Tried updating payment method in both android and ios to no avail.
Have tried Chrome, Edge and Firefox both in private and normal modes. Nothing changes this.
Please fix this issue.
Hey @3cxO,
Thanks for posting in the Community.
Could you try this check out link: https://www.spotify.com/uk/purchase/offer/full-price-premium/?country=GB
Just make sure to switch the country code at the end accordingly. If you don't know your country code, you can change the country of the site from a button at the lower right corner of the site.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can always wait for your subscription to run out and then activate a new Premium Individual subscription on your account.
Keep us posted,
Cheers!
Don't listen to this Dian “moderator" he's trying to frustrate you into buying the more expensive subscription.
heres how to fix “you aren't eligible for that plan"
just cancel your current subscription and subscribe to the individual plan. simple as that
I have the same problem. Spotify is about as important to me as I am to them. I guess I'll see if they fixed it in another six months.
hello!
do you have the link but for the student discount?
Hey @lololipop123
You can go ahead and check out our premium offers (without trials) here.
Make sure to read all the eligibility requirements for each offer and pick the one that fits best to your needs.
Cheers!
Found the solution folks, when it asks you to update your details, it takes you to "Choose your plan"
You're ineligible for the plan because you're already on the plan. Instead, go to your account, click "Update Details", and your plan will renew when your enter your card info
Hello same here,
I was surprised to realize that I am still on the duo plan that I changed for individual for a while.
I tried to change of browser, different laptops, tried to change the plan and even with the "update" button, it's the same as everyone I read here. The only thing that worked is to update my payment.
We are now in august and I still pay for a duo and i want the solo...
Thank you.
Hey there @LaureADR!
This doesn't sound right - you should be able to change you plan from your account page here under Your Plan section.
Can you also try this link? It should give you the option to get the Premium Individual subscription, but you'll need to re-enter your Premium details. Don't worry you won't be charged directly if you're already on the Duo plan, it'll just be used for confirmation.
Keep us in the loop here.
This also worked for me. I had to cancel my premium plan, then repurchase it and I was able to choose the individual plan.
This is the most stupid issue. People in Quebec cannot register any plans unless under the standard process because they are not eligible to the 1-month free trial and the web page just keeps scrolling down to the same list of plans that cannot be selected. How many users do you think you are losing with that kind of issue? Your QA dept is making you lose big money.
I am having the same issue here. I have a free account, and I am fed up with ads... especially those about premium! 😅 So I wish to upgrade to premium.
I am located in Quebec Canada, where I understand we are not eligible for the 1 month free offer. Not fair, but I can do without. 🤷♀️
But I cannot get to choose ANY plan, because I always get the same "not eligible for that plan" error for every single plan listed. There is no way to choose a plan without a month free.
I tried different browsers, private mode, internet connection, from my account, from the website, with the "no offer" link that is actually sending me to the standard offers with a month free...
I also cannot find any way to "update my payment method", as I never get to order any plan, and I have none in record because I never got a paid plan.
This is so ridiculous. 🙄 I'm willing to give them my money, but I have to fight for it... 🤦♀️
And there seem to be no way to join help at Spotify. 🤬 Suggestions guys?
Hey @user-removed,
Thank you for your reply in this thread.
This sounds a bit odd and we'll do our best to help you out here.
Can you let us know if you've tried opening this link in an incognito window using a computer? We usually recommend using a web browser when trying to make changes on your account. If you still experience the same behavior, go to the top right corner of the page and click on Profile > Log out. Then restart your computer and try again.
In case you're still getting this error message, it'd also be a good idea to try different browser to see if you'll be able to subscribe there.
Hope something here does the trick for you. Keep us posted.
Still can't subscribe, "Sorry, you are not eligible for that plan. Here are some other ways to get Premium."

Hey @pat-nad,
Thank you for sharing this!
As we can't view user accounts from the Community, could you let us know which market (country) you're having the issue in?
It's possible we can find an alternative link for you while this is being looked into 🙂
Many thanks!
Hi. I'm having the same problem with updating my payment method. I first registered for Individual Premium in Thailand with a Thai MasterCard. Now, I want to change back to my VISA Card issued in Vietnam.
When I updated the payment method, it notified me also to change the country. Then I click to change the country and then it loads back to the premium page and tells me "Sorry, you aren't eligible for that plan. But here are some more ways to get Premium!" and nothing changes...
Hey @byunbaektran,
Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.
In this case, you're seeing this error, most likely, due to the payment method you're trying to use, doesn't match with the country or region of your account. That being said, we'd recommend canceling your subscription, and once your account is on our free experience, you can update the country of your account by following these steps.
Note: Your new country or region only shows when you’re actually there.
If that doesn't so the trick, we'd suggest making sure your payment method has sufficient funds, and is:
It might just be a temporary connection issue, so we advise you to wait a couple of hours since your last attempt to try again as well.
We hope you found this helpful. Keep us in the loop!
I tried everything and the issue persists. it wont let me, even on another spotify account.
Hi there @Rim2,
Thanks for the post.
If you can't subscribe even with another account, then the issue is most likely related to your payment method. I suggest contacting your bank to make sure that your card is enabled for secure online recurring and international payments. Many debit/ credit cards have this option disabled initially and you need to activate it manually.
Hope this helps.
