Hi everyone,

I’m trying to subscribe to Spotify Premium in Egypt, but I keep running into payment issues with both Vodafone carrier billing and my credit card.

  • When I select Vodafone billing, I receive the SMS code and enter it successfully. But after pressing Continue, I get a "Payment Failed" error every time.

  • I also tried using a valid credit card, but the payment fails there too — even though the card works fine on other platforms.

Here's what I’ve already tried:

  • Using incognito/private mode

  • Switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data

  • Canceling all previous plans and waiting until my account reverted to Free

  • Trying from both desktop and mobile

I’ve contacted Vodafone and confirmed there are no restrictions from their side. This makes me think the issue might be on Spotify's end — maybe a regional problem?

Has anyone in Egypt (or similar regions) faced the same issue recently? Any workaround that worked for you?

If you've not checked this help article already I recommend that you do so, in order to make sure that you've got sufficient funds and everything's on order with your payment card.

 

On another note, since you've already reached out to Vodafone and tried subscribing with some troubleshooting steps (another device, different network and incognito-mode), but you were still unable to, then it's probably a good idea to contact the Support team here. They can take a look behind the scenes.

I'm facing the same exact issue, also in Egypt, and vodafone refuses to work. Were you able to find a solution?

Do you get a specific error message when the payment fails? In addition to what @Ivelina has suggested above, I'd recommend trying again with:

  • an incognito/private tab
  • another browser
  • another device
  • different Wi-Fi network or mobile data
