Paypal isn’t working

i usually pay my premium family subscription automatically via Paypal. But this month it suddenly stopped paying and sent me a mail where it says that i have to update my payment method. So i click the link and select the option paypal, but when i log in into paypal, i have to add a credit card? Normally i just pay via paypal and paypal takes the money from my bank? Why is this? Can anyone answer? This is the only method i can pay spotify
