After playing one song in a playlist, Spotify keeps switching to a different playlist

Solved!

After playing one song in a playlist, Spotify keeps switching to a different playlist

After Spotify plays one song in any of my playlists, it switches to one specific playlist.

It doesn't matter if I play the first song or any other song in the original playlist, the next song it plays is always a random song in another playlist.

It keeps switching to the same playlist in my library.

Please help. My playlists are essentially useless now as I can't listen to any of them.

It does this on the Spotify app on both my iPad and on Windows so far, so it doesn't appear to be specific to OS/device.

Hi there @normanmiller,

thanks for reaching out !

I would recommend making sure that your queue is empty.

If it is, try a clean reinstall following the steps provided here (it is a bit different then the usual installation).

Let me know how it goes 🙂

Thank you. It was the play queue. I didn't even know what that was, but clearing it fixed the issue. Thanks!

I have tried everything suggested but it still keeps jumping to the same playlist... help...

Hey @Thornsparrow,

Thanks for reaching out!

If emptying the queue didn't help, I suspect the issue might be cache-related. I'd recommend logging out and then back in your Spotify account twice in a row - this will trigger a refresh between the app and your account and make sure everything's synced.

If that doesn't do the trick, then it's worth performing a clean reinstall of the app. It's more thorough than a normal one and ensures that you'll be running the latest version of the app, as well as remove any damaged cache that might be causing issues.

Let us know how it goes.

Quiero reproducir mi playlist.. y solo puedo escuchar el primer tema de mi playlist, repito.. y siempre se enganchan temas para meditar ó de relax..

I can't do this twice. Submitted a question on this subject, screen started flashing and dumped me out, all data lost.

I  cannot clear playlist cache until I am certain we have save two  weeks of wife's work. Same issue, one song and shift to another playlist.  I rebooted the Spotify program to no avail. Help me sort this, please.

Asked for feedback. Tried. Sorry, there was an error, please try again. Really?

Now, an unexpected error has occurred.

Hey @ScaleCraft,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Spotify Community!

Can you make sure you and your wife aren't logged in the same account and using it at the same time? You can double-check what you both see on your account pages here and if it's the same thing then try logging in your own accounts to see if the issue persists afterwards. We'd also recommend testing out the suggestion marked as a solution in this thread - to make sure your queue's empty.

If you have a different device available, it'd also be worth testing this out on it just to make sure it's not device-related. It does sound like a cache issue though and a clean reinstall would be the best way to go here, but since you have some concerns about it, we wanted to clarify what it does a bit more. It won't affect your playlists, the only thing that gets removed is your downloaded content within the app, which you can re-download afterwards so give it a shot if you're okay with that.

Keep us posted.

working on it. Have some help coming. I can't do this like I could. Stage 4, stuck in my recliner.

My wife has hand/wrist issues, took two weeks to generate her play list and I am under instruction to not delete it. Which is what clearing the queue is, right?

Help is on the way.

I have to save these replies as I have no idea what the forum software will do. Now  it wants me to find bicycles!

Hi @ScaleCraft,

Thanks for the reply! We understand you have some difficulties with going over the steps and we would be happy to take things slow and explain in more detail when needed.

Clearing the queue using this guide only clears songs from it and doesn't affect your saved music or playlists in any way. So if your wife's song are saved in a separate playlist and not only added to the queue - they will be safe.

The only way to delete a playlist is to do it manually by tapping the three dots on the playlist and then on Delete playlist so you don't have to worry that they'll be lost during the troubleshooting process. The same goes for a clean reinstall as well - the only thing that will be removed from your music are the downloads you might have, which will still be available in the app afterwards for downloading.

And when it comes to this thread and the replies on the forum, you can access them at any point when you open the Community, or if it's easier you can just copy this link to the thread and save it somewhere so you can open it directly whenever you want.

Hope this clears things up.
