Hello,

I have downloaded 0 songs on my iphone, yet, I can play all the songs in my Library (liked songs) when I am offline. How is that possible?

This is because of something called CACHE. You can read more about it on the support page here. Spotify saves your track in the cache memory to make sure that the next time you play it, it is almost seamless so you do not need to wait for it to stream a fresh version again.
