Watch and Listen: Introducing music videos on Spotify

Spotify knows that the listening experience is a way to connect artists with fans on many levels. But what if we could enhance these connections with a different perspective? 

With this in mind, Spotify is introducing a new and powerful way to listen to your favorite songs: Music Videos.

This exciting new feature is being rolled out in Beta for Premium users across more than 90 countries worldwide. At this point, Music Videos is with a limited catalog, but it includes hits from local artists and global ones like Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, and Ariana Grande.

How to watch music videos on Spotify:

• Music Videos is being rolled out in Beta for Premium users in some specific countries. This includes Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Philippines, Poland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Egypt and the United Kingdom.
• Music Videos is available for Premium users on iOS, Android, desktop, and TV devices. 
• You can access it through the Now Playing View, when listening to supported music tracks. You just need to tap the “Switch to Video” toggle and the music video will start playing from the beginning. To head back to audio-only mode, tap on “Switch to Audio”.
• You can watch the videos in either portrait or landscape modes, and it is also available for Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode.

Considering it's in Beta, Spotify will continue to improve the new feature based on feedback both from users and artists.

Currently, Spotify is working on ways to improve the experience of switching the playback from music to video and vice-versa, adopting a TimeSync transaction and this update is being released to the users gradually. There is also a 18+ content enforcement to prevent minors have access to explicit content.

We hear your concerns as parents and we're actively working on a new experience which grants the plan manager additional control over the available content (such as videos and podcasts), making it more suitable for young listeners who have outgrown the use of a Kids account, but are still too young for a standalone Spotify account.

I have a premium account but the video option is not available on none of my devices. I have the premium subscription for more than 10 years.. All of my friends and family can use this option. Is there a solution?

Hello, I want to avoid videos also for my kids that use my account for listening music. I don't find the way to turn off the possibility to watch videos, please tell me how to do it.

Looks like an awesome feature! I'm a Premium user in the Netherlands, but I don't have access to music videos yet — even though my friend here with the same plan does. We've checked everything (same app version, settings, etc.). Is the rollout still staggered for some users?

Would love to try this out!

My premium account is unable to use the video function, I've tried all guides on this forum to no avail. I have been a premium uset since Spotify was invite only and I am located in Sweden. I am able to use it on my parents premium account.

Has anyone found a solution to enable music videos while connecting to a TV? On my parents account it works by default and while attached to a "JAM" it works via my device as well. The guides as how to enable video is unable on my premium account, just as if it wasn't labeled as premium, or in a country which does not support it.

I LOVE that feature! I just created a playlist with over 1.000 songs released in the 90s that come with a video and realised there are many still missing. Any chance to get updated when or if new Videos are added?

We can travel too space but no video on spotify. Plays seconds and freeze good work spotify.

Have you ever seen MTV music? When I was younger, I use to watch all the videoclip and after I would search them on youtube just to see a specific part of the clip. You should put the option to connect the song or the part of the lyrics directly to the part of the song I want to watch.

Some parents try to control the time their children spend on screens. Music looked like a good idea until you ruined it with videos. And don't talk about music videos, my son was watching Minecraft videos on Spotify. This decision and the way it was implemented are incredibly bad.

I completely agree with your assessment. Because of this, I will be canceling the entire family subscription and moving to a competitor. By failing to control the use of videos for teen accounts, Spotify, you are transforming this music platform into a social network, which makes it no better than Instagram or TikTok.

You guys should separate the music video from the actual song.

For example, take SAD! by XXXTENTACION—
in the music video I have to wait 2 minutes before the song even starts.

We have a family plan.  Spotify Kids is not available in our country.  How can I switch the videos off permanently on my little one's account?  He is already aware of the button in app to switch it back on.
