Brief description of the issue: Since last update it's absolutely useless downloading a playlist because, when playing a offline/downloaded playlist, app keeps using mobile data to download/play it. In less than ONE HOUR app download more than 1GB of mobile data. it totally ruin my data plan.
I know I can use the offline mode to solve it, but in offline mode scrobbling for last.fm doesn't work.
This is the first time I have this problem, in the last versions it doesn't exist -I could play offline/downloaded playlist without ruining my data plan-.
When are you going to update/fix the app?
What steps you’ve tried already: Reinstall app, Reinstall iOS.
Your device and operating system: iPhone 6, iOS 10.0.2 and 10.1
Type of Spotify account you have (Free or Premium): Premium
The app version of Spotify you’re using: 6.5.0.1665
Hello SrJavi, and warm welcome from the Spotify community!
the Spotify app is supposed to run on wifi, and therefore if you have any mobile data, it will uses it automatically. My solution to this problem is to turn on airplane mode, or turn off mobile data.
Have a good time Spotifying!
Hey @SrJavi. If you want to scrobble to last.fm then you have to use data. Cellular/WiFi.
Something that has worked for me, when I had little data left: go to the settings inside iOS - Network, and disable Spotify allowance to use the cellular network.
And when I got WiFi again, the songs was imported to Last.fm.
It's not guaranteed to work every time, but has worked for me most of the time.
Ok @Shepw, but... why didn't previous versions use mobile data? Well, I mean, why did previous versions use much much less mobile data?
Hi @tomasrex. I knew it, I had already disabled that. It's better than app's offline mode.
And you're right, I had noticed that sometimes when it reconnects, songs are imported to Last.fm, but, as you say, it's not guaranteed to work every time and i don't like it...
Thanks!, I'll have to settle for that.
I would like to clarify that the problem is ONLY when It's playing a offline song/playlist. I know if it's playing a online song it has to download it/use mobile data.
My question is why does it has to download now again if it's a offline song/playlist??
