My Question or Issue:

The repeat button is gone. Now podcasts keep repeating ad nauseam after they finished. instead of just ending. Since there is no repeat button, there is no way to turn it off.

This just started after the latest update.

Eventually the repeats stopped. However repeat button is all gone.

Hey @danrod,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

In this case, we can confirm that the repeat button is not available when listening to podcasts. That's why you can't see it in the now playing view.

We'd recommend you suggest your idea in our Community Ideas Exchange. As a workaround, you can add the podcast to your queue several times so it will play after it ends. To do it, you'll need to go to the episode you'd like to listen to in a loop, then on the three dot menu, select Add to the queue.

We appreciate your feedback. We know you’d like to make this as an opportunity for Spotify to become an incredible app.

We hope you found this helpful. Let us know if you need anything else.

My gripe was exactly that you proposed. The podcast was repeating without end. It would just restart again after it was over. Did that over many different podcasts. I see that is unintentional, as you have apparently confirmed. Therefore, it's a bug.

Here. No repeat button on songs either!

Software is borked!

Hey @danrod,

Thank you for keeping in contact.

Even if the repeat button is not present on the podcast's playing view, it should not keep repeating itself. First, we'd recommend clearing the play queue to make sure the podcast was not added multiple times by accident.

Also, since this is happening with different podcasts, it could be related to some damaged cache stored on your device as well. In this case, we'd suggest performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This is often an overlooked step, but it's more thorough than a quick one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

If the issue persists, include in your next response the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating your case.

We'll be on the lookout.

Look at my picture above! 'Conga' by MSM is not a podcast! It is a regular song! (not a great one either but everyone knows it)

You should be able to see in the picture that there is no repeat button there! None. Zero. Zip. Nada. No repeat button on a regular song. In reality I should change the title to 'no repeat button'

Hey @danrod,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the clarification.

We apologize for the misunderstanding, it possible that the screenshot didn't displayed well before the last response. But taking the picture into account, we can confirm that this is an expected behavior because you're listening to a "radio based on a song".

When you search for a single song and it ends, the next one will be a recommendation based on the previous song and the "Repeat" button is replaced with the "Hide song" button. This means that all songs recommendations and podcast will display this button" instead. You can check this by playing any playlist you follow/create or an album you saved.

In case you don't have the repeat button on a playlist, your liked songs or an album, include in your next response a screenshot where we can see the missing button when playing from a playlist directly.

Hope this clarifies things a bit. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Here's how to reproduce the original problem:

1. Open Spotify on iphone.

2. On home screen click on 'Podcasts & Shows' at the top.

3. click on an episode to play

The episode will stay repeating itself. There is no way to stop the repeat besides clicking out of it. Furthermore, episodes are not marked as 'played' if stopped half way.

Hey @danrod

Thanks for your reply.

We tried this on our end, but couldn't replicate it.

You mentioned that the repeating eventually stopped. Could you confirm if you're still experiencing this? If so, have you tried reinstalling the app with the steps @OscarDC sent above?

On another note, if you haven't fully listened to the episode, it won't be marked as played. If you sort the episodes by Unplayed, it'll show so that you can resume listening where you've left off.

We'll be on the lookout.
