My Question or Issue
When I swipe the app up, when I go back into the app no sound plays and the numbers to show duration of the song are just lines but I can press all the buttons and it shows that it’s playing but no sound is going or numbers ticking.
i have to swipe the app up again then open it again to fix it.
Hi @SubwayEatFresh,
Thanks for posting in the Community!
Have you tried any troubleshooting steps so far? We recommend clearing the cache and giving Spotify a clean reinstall if you haven't already as it helps resolve different performance issues. You can take a look and follow the steps in this article.
Additionally, check if you've got enough free storage on your device and ensure you're using a stable internet connection.
We'll be here if you need us 🙂
I have done multiple trouble shootings
including fully uninstalling and reinstalling. And I’ve got a ton of storage on my phone, thank you for trying to help!
Hey @SubwayEatFresh,
Thanks for the response and for letting us know what troubleshooting you've done so far.
We couldn't replicate your experience on our end, so we'd advise to try with a different device, see if this will happen again. Also could you send us a screen recording of how things play out on your end. Seeing things will help us narrow down the issue and offer a solution.
You can attach it to your next response, if the file is too big simply place in in a google doc and send us the link, just make sure that its privacy is set to public, otherwise we wont be able to see it.
Keep us posted.
Okay I found out it’s when I completely close out the app then if my Bluetooth earbuds gets pressed like to play/pause the glitch happens
also it won’t let me attach a video, but this photo shows what it looks like when it happens. You can press all the buttons but nothing plays.
Hey @SubwayEatFresh,
Thanks for sending over the video!
Just to confirm, does this also happen when you're playing directly through the phone, without being connected to headphones? Do you notice any difference when using another pair of headphones?
If possible, could you try a different internet connection to see if the same thing happens there?
Keep us in the loop!
Seems to happen on any internet or on data. It does not happen on just phone but does happen with all my Bluetooth earbuds that have touch controls.
Appreciate the cooperation, @SubwayEatFresh!
Checking the video again, you seem to start playback directly from the Now Playing view when re-opening the app, but what about if you play a song from a playlist? Does the same behavior happen?
I also noticed that you've got Sleep Focus on. Have you tried when it's disabled?
Lastly, to test if it's an account issue, it'd be great if you could ask a relative or a friend to log in to the app on your phone with their account and give it a test.
We'll be on the lookout 🙂
I have a similar issue. My setup is a bit different (iPhone SE 2nd Gen - Bluetooth receiver - Scala Rider QZ), but I have same issue. It started in the past few iOS/Spotify releases - Bluetooth is on - receiver is off - I turn on receiver - iPhone says it's connected (I see headphone icon) - open Spotify and often it will not recognize the receiver is connected or become unresponsive. I then have to close out Spotify and/or toggle my Bluetooth. It's almost as though the iOS/Spotify app Bluetooth handshake is not properly disconecting/reconnecting. It's pretty frustrating.
Thanks for the info @Bart_Taylor!
Could you folks also confirm the exact version of Spotify you're running? If Background App Refresh is toggled of for Spotify, make sure to toggle it on to see if that does the trick.
Cheers 🤘
