My Question or Issue

The Now Playing Bar disappears whenever I leave the app in background and then come back to open it and right now, the only way for me to temporarily fix it is by rotating the app (the problem will come back as soon as I put the app in background).

I have already made sure both my device and app are up to date and I also already tried to do a clean reinstalling of the app, but the problem still persists.

Hey @nguyenandrew87,

Sorry to see you've been experiencing issues with your Now Playing bar.

To kick things off, we'd like to ask you which app version is the latest available to you.
We're also wondering if the playback continues when the bar gets hidden.

And in addition to that, to see if the app is stressing any individual resources, see if meddling with these settings would make a difference:

  • Disable Canvas (Settings -> Playback -> Canvas)
  • Try enabling/ disabling the "Reduce Motion" accessibility setting on the iPad

Many thanks! We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

My current app version of Spotify on the iPad is the latest version (9.1.72.1896).

I also tried both of the things of what you recommended (disabling the Canvas and messing around with the “Reduce Motion” setting on the iPad) and the problem is still there.

Update: Spotify just dropped an update (9.1.74.2018) just a couple of minutes ago of me writing my previous reply. Downloaded the new update, but the problem is still there.

Hey again @nguyenandrew87,

We did a little digging and what you're experiencing seems to be tied to this thread here. The issue has already been reported backstage, so you can subscribe to that thread to stay on top of any new updates.

We're here for you if there's anything else in the meantime 🙂
