Podcast playback speed button doesn’t work

My Question or Issue

Recently the button to change the playback speed of podcasts has stopped working. Every other button works but when I press the speed button it doesn’t open the panel for me to change the speed.

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community. 

 

Just to confirm, does this only happen on your iPhone or on other devices as well? It'd be helpful if you could check. Also, could you let us know if this happens with all podcasts or only with one in particular? 

 

If it only happens on your iPhone, we suggest that you try logging out and then logging back in to your account twice in a row. We know this sounds odd, but it'll trigger a sync between your account and device.

 

However, if this doesn't make any difference, it's well worth running a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble. Also, make sure to check if the OS of your iPhone has any pending updates.

thought I’d come back to this thread just to say this issue seems to have come back. I’m not too sure what’s causing it but again this morning the button stopped working again until I pressed the slip forward and backwards button.

Can you give another clean reinstall a shot, since it's possible that there might be some damaged cache causing this? It will also ensure you're running the latest version. Also, does this happen when you're listening directly on your phone or when you're connected to an external device - a speaker or headphones, for example?

 

It'd also be really helpful if you can log in on another device to check if you get the same behavior, as well as ask a friend or relative to log in their own account on your phone and test this out. This way we can determine if it's device- or account-related.
