My Question or Issue

Hi! Whenever I’m adding songs to a playlist, after I add round about 8-9 songs form the album, I can’t add the rest of the songs of the album (I don’t add all of the album, only about 90% of it) and it’s saying that they’ve all been added to the playlist which they haven’t been and when I “remove” them, it removes one of the songs I’ve added. I’d add the entire album and then remove the songs I don’t want but that’s a short term solution.

Hey there @nevergoingoutofstyle

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

Could you let us know if this happens across devices or only on a specific one? We'd also like to know if this happens with multiple albums' songs.

If this only happens on a specific device, it's well worth running a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.

If the issue persists, would you mind asking a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your phone to see if they can replicate this behavior?

Keep us posted.

Hey! Sorry for the late response, I tried out everything you said and it seems to be only on my IPhone. Logged into my other family members account and the same happened, also is happening with multiple albums but it seems to be specific songs that’s causing it?

Hey @nevergoingoutofstyle

Thanks for your reply!

That's odd. Just to confirm, if you don't add those specific songs, the app behaves as expected? If so, could you send us the URI of those songs and albums so we can try to replicate this on our end?

Since so far it looks like the issue is device-related, would you mind checking if the OS of your iPhone has any pending updates?

Also, if the clean reinstall didn't do the trick, could you try logging out and then logging back in to your account twice in a row? This will trigger a sync between your account and device.

Keep us in the loop.

Hey! Once again, I tried to do it and it didn’t work at all, it’s specifically happening with THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: The Anthology, 1989 (Taylor’s Version), The Secret Of Us, etc! My phone is up to date and so is my spotify app! It’s actually gotten worse as the songs I’m picking aren’t even being added, they’re selecting random songs from the album.

Hey @nevergoingoutofstyle,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop!

Just to check, have you noticed if this happen on different internet connections? For example, are you experiencing the same thing on both 4G and on WiFi.

Also, should this persist, it would be great if you could send us a video or photos showing how things look from your end, so that we can have a closer look as well. Should the files be too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us as unlisted YouTube videos or via Google Drive.

Let us know how you get on.

Hey!! For some reason, it happens on both. Here’s a screen recording that shows what happens, I hadn’t even selected some of the songs near the bottom and they were saying they had been added.

Hey @nevergoingoutofstyle

Thanks for sending us this info.

Just to be on the same page, I counted 24 songs that you added to the test playlist, but it was showing only 20, right? Would you mind trying if the same happens if you add less songs? Also, does this only happen when you try to add them to a new playlist or it happens with already existing playlists as well?

On another note, could you let us know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update either of Spotify or the OS of your iPhone?

Lastly, sending us the exact Spotify version of your iPhone would come in handy.

We'll be on the lookout.

Hey there! This time I added around 8 songs and it still happened with some select songs further down the album that I hadn’t added: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1F3OHxWYQFh5_qNm3C-Uyqcetd1sUizLg/view?usp=drivesdk

I don’t think my iPhone has needed an update for a while so I’m leaning more towards it was potentially a specific Spotify update but I wouldn’t be able to say which one, It’s been happening for about over 3 weeks though.

My spotify is Version 8.9.58!

Appreciate the cooperation @nevergoingoutofstyle!

Just to clarify, when you tested with the family member's account, did the same thing happen with these specific albums and songs just like with your Spotify account or does it happen with others too?

What I noticed is that you've got these albums and songs downloaded. In order to test if this is maybe causing the issue, could you remove the downloads (if you haven't tested with non-downloaded tracks) from Settings > Storage > Remove all downloads and then give Spotify a clean reinstall once again?

Thanks and we'll be on the lookout.

Hey, it’s my pleasure! It seems to have gotten worse, my app is now glitchy and will crash occasionally. I removed all the downloads and it was still doing the same but with different songs.

When I tried on my other family members Spotify account, it happened with the exact same songs and album.

Whenever I’ve tried other albums, the results are also the same.

Yup, made a playlist a couple of days ago and added “stranger” and “so american” by Olivia Rodrigo and it had added “bad idea, right?” and “vampire” instead of the songs I chose. I had to search up the songs to add them and then the app got glitchy and laggy again.

Thanks so much for replying quickly @nevergoingoutofstyle 🙂

We know we've already asked if you've performed a clean reinstall a couple of times, however it's a bit difficult to tell from your responses if you've done so.

Just to be on the safe side and be sure, could you please confirm if you've followed all of the steps in this help article, including clearing the cache? A clean reinstall very often helps with different performance issues, so let us know.

Cheers.

Hey! Yeah, I’ve done two clean reinstalls. The first time when I was asked and once again after I removed the downloads.

Hey @nevergoingoutofstyle,

Thank you for keeping in contact and confirming the info.

To check if the issue could be device-related as you previously mentioned, could you try it from the desktop app or Web Player by selecting all the songs you want and dragging them to the playlist to see if it has the same behavior?

If not, and it still happens on your mobile device, we'd recommend (if possible) performing a factory reset of your phone by following the steps mentioned in this article. Keep in mind that this process will erase all your data, so we'd recommend performing a backup before.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

Hi again. Thank you so much for the quick response and I did all that and the problem still remains, it seems to only be with me too which is the frustrating part because the app is quite literally unusable now. Even artist profiles are glitching for me so I’m just gonna ahead and give up, I’m not sure what to do anymore and I feel like I’ve tried everything, thank you so much for your assistance and patience, hoping one day it’ll fix itself 🙂

Hi @nevergoingoutofstyle,

Thanks for the reply and your cooperation.

We currently have a known Ongoing Issue regarding various performance issues on iOS. It's possible that what you're facing is related to this. Check out the thread, try any troubleshooting provided there and keep your eye on it for updates. Hopefully, once that is resolved you won't be facing any issues either 🙂

Hope this helps.
