Spotify for iOs 4 no longer in the app store

Solved!

Spotify for iOs 4 no longer in the app store

I had to format my old ipod touch 2g, where I had spotify installed on it. However, now I understand the new version requires ios5, which the ipod touch 2g can't run. I've visited the site and there's a link to a legacy version for iOs4, however when I'm directed to the app store, it says it can't be completed because the app is not available in the USA store. Is this a glitch? Or has the app been removed for ever?

Please help me, as I use this for swimming, (I'd rather drown an old ipod touch rather than my iphone :P) and the app worked like a charm...

thanks!

Thanks for that and for the warm welcoming! 🙂

Thats why u never follow links on a 2g ipod. No hard feelings.just look it up onn the app store instead of following the link

It is available in the us. Ipod 2gs dont have link following capabilities. Look it up on the app store! Im telling u!

i have an iphone 3g and i got spotify for ios4 out of the app store!

though sadly, i dont know how.

Spotify for IOS 4 no longer in the US app store.

Is this gone for good?

Yes, we removed the "Spotify for iOS 4" app from the AppStore, downloading "Spotify"  should give you the latest compatible version for you, which should work just as good as "Spotify for iOS 4".

If I download the app "Spotify" it says that I need to update to a newer iOS..So no way to install on a iPod Touch 3G ?

Strange, are you running iOS 5 on that iPod Touch?

Sorry I made a mistake, it is an iPod from the second, not the third, generation. So the running iOs is 4.2.1..

Still should work, going to escalate this for you.

Could you please try installing Spotify through iTunes and syncing it to your device?

Community Ergo Sum

I tried and I got the error: "Spotify couldnt be installed, because a newer iOs is required"..

Thanks for the quick feedback. I've passed it on internally and I hope we'll have a solution soon.
Community Ergo Sum

Thank you!

I'm in the US, also just signed up for Premium, then tried several times unsuccessfully to download, searched and found this website and only then realized my OS is the issue, followed all 8 pages of comments and tried to install the elusive app (IOS4 link down, up and down again (actually got a message today via iTunes app store that it is not available in the US).

Spotify, since this problem is well known, shouldn't decent customer service now dictate that the initial sign-up pages clearly indicate that the program requires iOS 5 or later before people go through all this hassle of siging up, arranging payment, searching for the problem, wasting time looking for the nonexistent fix, and now, I suppose, going back to try to un-do membership and payment authorizations for a program that doesn't work?  With multiple computers, etc., in households today not everyone needs to run to spend hundreds more $ to re-purchase new iPads often used only for reading iBooks and listening to music.  This requirement SUBSTANTIALLY increases the cost of a Spotify membership to WELL OVER $10/MONTH!!!!  (Not to mention, what happens when Apple comes up with its next OS for iPad?  Toss the OS5s and buy another to run Spotify?)

I've got exactly the same problem: my 2nd gen iPod Touch runs iOS 4.2.1 and for months I've been having problems with Spotify freezing etc.

I've been liaising with Spotify's tech support who have been trying to help - unsucessfully, unfortunately - but the latest suggested fix was ridiculous!

I was advised to delete and reinstall the app (despite having told them I'd already done this some time ago) but after deleting the app I went to the App Store only to find that the Spotify for iOS 4 app is now no longer available in the UK!!

So now I have no flipping Spotify at all on my Touch - so much for being a Premium user.

So now my Touch is docked to a very expensive but silent B&W Zeppelin.

Why have Apple done this? I thought i was buying a quality device that would last - this is a very shabby way to treat customers.

Please put the app back up on the Store.

I'm not able to install it on my 2nd Gen with iOs 4.2.1 either. This was a key reason for Premium, so I am hoping you can bring a solution to light.
