Touch Preview on iOS removal

Just a quick post to let you know we’re in the process of removing Touch Preview, the feature on the iOS app that gives you a sneak peek of a playlist, song, album, or artist before you hit play.

We’ve taken this decision as it currently has a very low engagement rate. We’re committed to offering the best experience on each platform, and we’re actively looking into new possibilities for the long press feature.

The change will take effect with app version 8.4.15, which goes live in the App Store today.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on what long press feature you’d like to see added. Thanks in advance for sharing your feedback!

You HAVE to bring back touch preview. It was the most amazing feature of Spotify and a huge reason why I have chose Spotify as my go to music app. I have paid for it for years, but without this feature I have no reason to switch to Apple Music. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this decision.

You will lose lose many many paying subscribers because of this.

Like others have mentioned, the touch preview feature was a huge differentiator for me between Spotify and the competition. I'm so disappointed in the removal of such a killer feature and will now be re-assessing the competition.

Spotify has marked the idea to bring back Touch Preview as "Not Right Now."

Please bring this feature back, even under a toggle or special setting. It makes scanning a library for the "right thing" incredibly easy and breezing through new music fun. It one of my favotite Spotify features.

Wow, “very low engagement rate”? That has to be bull**bleep**. 

Why does Spotify keep removing great functions? First favourites/stars getting deleted, then the My Year In Music e-mail  fiasco last year, now touch preview. And these are just the big ones.

Seriously, I love Spotify, but you’re making it very hard to keep liking and using the service this way. After five years of being a premium subscriber I’m finally considering switching to Apple Music.

Wait… what?! Touch Preview was the best music discovery feature on the iPhone app! Low engagement? Who cares, it was an excellent functionality.

This removal, the silly 'Shuffle Play' button and the annoying 10,000 song limitation for saved music make me seriously consider switching to Apple Music.

Wow, to collect more thoughts on this matter.  What's there to collect?  Apple users are not happy. The people have spoken. Thank goodness I didn't go for the premium package.

preview makes discovering new music a huge breeze--- makes it fun and easy.

i can have a song playing, songs queued up--- and *still* continue browsing and touch-previewing potential tracks I like without disrupting flow. touch-preview was *the* feature that made this possible--- discovering tunes on the fly.

I literally havent bothered hunting for new tracks since this was removed--- so integral touch-preview was to my workflow.

please bring touch-preview back.  I know im only one of millions of users, but i have trouble recommending the platform now to potential new premium streamers over amazon or apple; touch-preview was the deciding factor for me.  best thing since sliced bread.

Since Spotify has left us alone with Touch Preview, I found myself using Apple Music more often. I'm failing to see a reason to keep my Premium subscription if the free version suffices my needs.

First pulling the Spotify LG WebOS platform, then this! Great news Spotify, keep it on, maybe you should also remove Spotify app from my Marantz Network Player as it has low engagement rate, no matter I bought it mainly because of this feature, and I am your premium subscriber because of this for years. 

I sometimes reached for my iPad or iPhone just to use the Touch Preview feature, which was missing from the Android version I am using mainly. But instead of bringing this feature to all of your apps, you decide to remove it, and offer no new feature instead!? Same with the WebOS app, you pulled it from the store "to improve the overall Spotify experience". My experience has been not really improved by this, it stopped.
