[iOS] Playlists appears empty

We're seeing reports that some users are unable to see songs in playlists - both on their own playlists and in Spotify-curated playlists.

This seems to be affecting iOS mobile devices only.

Hey everyone,

We're currently investigating this, and to help our tech teams look into this further, it would also be great if you could send us the following (if you haven't already):

  • The make & model of your device.
  • Current OS version.
  • Exact Spotify version.

Should you experience issues seeing tracks in playlists on iOS, you can also to Subscribe to this thread from the 3 dot menu to stay tuned. We'll keep you posted here if we have any news to share.

Cheers!

Hey folks,

Our tech team is currently looking into this. In the meantime, could you try manually updating the app to see if that helps? If you're using a VPN, I'd recommend disabling it and trying again.

If possible, test if switching the playback from another device to the one that's affected via the Spotify Connect menu does the trick. Something else that's worth trying is updating your device's OS.

Let us know how it goes 👍

My Question or Issue

All my playlists are empty, and when I search, it only shows playlist titles. So I can't play anything. Spotify works on my laptop but not on my phone. Initialy, it was just removing certain songs from playlists, and I was unable to search for anything. Then I re-downloaded the app and now I can't see any songs, search for anything but playlist titles or play anything. I have tried to turn my phone on and off, tried on both data and internet, and redownloaded the app. I have also checked, and the app is fully updated.

Hey @mimi181203!

Thanks for reaching out.

Could you try logging in with another Spotify account on your iPhone 12? It could be a friend’s or family member’s account, or even a second account you might have, just to check if the same issue happens.

Also, can you double-check if you’re entering the exact same account you’re using on the Desktop app, where your playlists show up normally? Just to make sure it’s not a different account by mistake.

Keep me posted on how it goes!

I am having the same problem.  Started about an hour ago.  I am logged in to the right account and have tried other accounts on my family plan and getting the same results on those accounts as well.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling using the method provided by Spotify and still no luck.

My Question or Issue

There is no music in the native iOS app.  All playlists, including Spotify created lists, are empty.  Searching does not bring up any artists or music.  I have logged in to another account on my family plan and get the same thing.  I have tried logging out and back in again, clearing the cache, deleting the app and data from my phone and reinstalling it.  Nothing works.  My macOS and iPadOS apps are working fine.  I am also able to log in to the web player on my phone and see and play music from there.

Hi, and welcome to Spotify!

I'm so sorry to hear about this — let's figure this out together!

From what you've described, it seems like the issue isn't with your account, but rather with something related to the app version or the app's communication with the iOS servers.

Here are some things you can do to help:

Check for updates for Spotify and iOS:

Since you're using a beta version of iOS (indicated by the build number), there may be a temporary incompatibility issue that will be fixed in future updates.

Try resetting your iPhone's network permissions:

Go to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Network Settings.

(Note: This will delete saved Wi-Fi networks, so you'll need to reconnect later.)

💡 Important: Spotify always prioritizes compatibility with stable versions of iOS. Issues in beta versions are usually fixed in future updates.

Keep me updated,

Cheers!

Unfortunately that did not work.

I should also note that this issue did not start right after doing an update to either iOS or the app.

Hey @AngryMrStayPuft,

Thanks for checking!

Since this only occurs in the mobile app even with other accounts, I'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app. You mentioned reinstalling already, but can you double check the steps for a clean reinstall here and see if you've followed them? It's more thorough and ensures that any damaged cache will be removed, as well as updates the app to the latest version.

Another thing worth checking is if there's a VPN turned on in your device's settings, as well as if everything looks good in Settings > General > Language and region. It's also worth testing a different internet connection.

Keep us posted.

My Question or Issue

No songs appear in app. Searching displays no music, all playlists are empty. Audiobooks and podcasts unaffected. Music and contents of playlists are available on all other devices and web. Have signed out and in, reinstalled app, performed a clean reinstall, and factory reset phone and restored from backup with no changes to issue. Only present on iPhone.

I am having the same issue. I did the same troubleshooting method but that didn’t work either
