[iOS] Playlists appears empty

We're seeing reports that some users are unable to see songs in playlists - both on their own playlists and in Spotify-curated playlists.

This seems to be affecting iOS mobile devices only.

Hey everyone,

We're currently investigating this, and to help our tech teams look into this further, it would also be great if you could send us the following (if you haven't already):

  • The make & model of your device.
  • Current OS version.
  • Exact Spotify version.
  • Does the issue persist on the Web Player?
  • Have you interacted with our age verification flow anytime in the recent past?

In the meantime, feel free to give the workarounds suggested by @djones22 in this comment and by @anton25360 in the reply here a try 🙂

You can also to Subscribe to this thread from the 3 dot menu to stay tuned. We'll keep you posted here if we have any news to share.

Cheers!

Hey guys it's been almost a month and it's getting tough to believe that your backend engineers still haven't been able to resolve this issue. And it seems like the lack of support for a service that is considered one of the top music streaming apps in the world is unable to address the overall issue and come up with a solution. You'll be losing plenty of loyal customers at this rate

I thought the latest update for IOS would resolve this issue but no!

So I have been using the web player which brings a ton of compatibility issues with it being slow, buggy, forcing me to download the app to look at my library so I dont have access to my playlist.

Is there any resolution to this or compensation for being without the mobile for a month? For a company this size to have such a breaking bug and no work around other than the web player which only partially works is kind of crazy and frustrating, even more so when I am paying for a plan and only able to access it while I am home.

Hey everyone,

I’m having the same problem, for nearly a month or so now. The issue is as described. Playlists and albums appear empty, nothing will play. Info below.

  • iPhone 16 Pro (MYMG3LL/A)
  • iOS 18.5 (issue also existed in 18.4)
  • Spotify version 9.0.44.500
  • Problem does not appear on other devices or the web player on the same iPhone.
  • I have not interacted with the age verification tool at all recently.

I have tried just about every possible fix, and nothing has worked. I’ve tried the below, with no success at all.

  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
  • Clearing the app cache.
  • Logging in and out.
  • Restarting phone.
  • Resetting network settings.
  • Ensuring VPNs are off.
  • Making a new account on same phone.
  • Trying a different account on same phone.
  • Tried on WiFi and 5G and LTE.

My region settings are correct, and I have not travelled out of the country recently.

I am currently a member on a friend’s family plan, but the issue appears even if I make a new free account on the same device.

Hoping this is resolved soon!!

Edit: I just noticed this same issue appears on my iPad, also running the same version of iOS and Spotify.

Edit: Just updated to Spotify version 9.0.46. No fix. Problem remains unresolved.

Edit: Just updated to Spotify version 9.0.48. No fix. Problem remains unresolved.

Here’s a small observation that occurred to me. I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max that is affected by this unfortunate event. On the other hand, my older iPad, which hadn’t been turned on for months, wasn’t affected. I opened the Spotify app, which initially locked up but then prompted me for “human verification.”

To my surprise, my playlists appeared, and the app is working perfectly on my older iPad. This could be a security feature that has been overlooked by many accounts and may have resulted in their potential lockouts. Maybe an update to a security feature on the servers has not executed correctly.

My iPhone never received a “human verification” prompt.

This is not limited to the iOS app - when logging in on the browser I still have the below blank for you playlist. I have tried the clearing cache and reinstalling etc and nothing has worked.
