Cannot set device password

Cannot set device password

Hi

I have tried to set my device password, but without success. Every time I click the link sent in an email i get

"

Oh no!
Something has gone wrong! But don't be sad.
You can try again a little bit later.

 

"

 

error and have no idea what to do with this. It appears on my android phone and linux pc.

I use login-by-facebook account if it matters. Any ideas or walkarounds? I need this to set up mopidy, my facebook pass does not work

Hi @ikciwor!

 

Sometimes in this situation even though we get an error message the password is actually being set.

 

So set the password, get the error message, ignore it and then try to log in using the device ID and password.

Which password? I did not get any... I have read about this trick in other threads and tried my facebook password and facebook-app password but without success. It was the only message I got. It appeared right after clicking "Set your device password" in email

It should be your Facebook password. What problems are you facing with it?

It says "Incorrect username or password.". I've checked password twice, I can log in to facebook by it, so it must be correct

Password is still "incorrect". Or login. 21tg24dx********vjjdgb2ea, 25 symbols. This is my  "device username", should I treat this as login? Maybe I have messed it up?

Hey @ikciwor,

 

Could you try to set a device password directly from Facebook?

 

You'll just have to head to Settings > Security > App Passwords.

 

Let me know if it works.

Still incorrect. I have also tried this before, without success

I'm having the same problem. I'm trying to disconnect my spotify account from Facebook and saw in a thread that I should try setting a device password, however every time I click on the link to get the password and then receive the email and click on that link I get the error message.  I'm not sure what else to try. 

 

I also tried the above option of setting a password in facebook for my apps and it wouldn't let me login.

Just to check, are you able to log in with your numeric username (the one he sent with 21tg24dx********vjjdgb2ea) and your current FB password? If not, are you able to log in with your account’s email address and Facebook password?

The only way for me to log in is to press "login by facebook"

Yes the only way I am able to login is by clicking Login with Facebook.

Ok @klee1214 and @ikciwor

 

In this case then I suggest you get in touch with the Spotify staff - simply drop them a line on social media (Twitter or Facebook) or by using the contact form. Make sure, if you use the latter, to reply to the automated email you'll receive directing you back to the help pages, even if it's from a no-reply.

Support usually gets back within a day or two.

Maybe you can try to set a shorter password. Like less than 10 characters.
I am new in Spotify so I don't know whether i am correct. But I remember when I tried to reset my password few days ago, first I tried a password like 16 characters, it didn't success, but after that I tried a 9 characters password. It just worked.

Having the same issue, frustrating this was not resolved over so long.

I cant use spotify with sonos, and i cant just make a new account because i use premium family subscription on top the fsct that all my playlists and music collections are here,  ill use the contact form and refer spotify staff to this thread.

Same problem for me to. Press the link in the email to set your device password and only get
