Connecting Spotify Account To Facebook

I have a premium account created using gmail. I want to see my friends actvitiy but the only way to do it seems to be connecting my actual account to my facebook.

If I do this I will have to be logged in on facebook everytime I want to use Spotify?

Or is it a on/off characteristic?

I used to have a facebook connected account that I deleted and created the actual with gmail.

How do you disconnect a facebook linked account just to have one with email only, i need help with that.

I followed those same instructions to close my account and transfer all my music to my new account.
