Credit card not accepted "Oops, seems your card or payment provider is having a bad day"

My friend suggested to use spotify and said spotify is free for first 30 days. ı was so excited but I am a student and I don't have a credit card yet. My friend suggested to use his own credit card so ı would open a premium account for a month. But it seems that he used his credit card for trial before. When we tried with 4 different credit cards of him, none of them worked.

Error was saying "Oops, seems your card or payment provider is having a bad day" etc.

What should I do, does spotify keep a record of their customers' credit cards? Is it legal, how can they keep the credit card numbers of their customers, even if they ended the subscribtion?

I have a Capitol One Visa and I have had the same problem. The card is fine; this is entirely on Spotify's end. The "oops" message says they will keep trying, but it's beyond absurd that they don't tell me whether they can process the payment or not. I shouldn't have to keep checking my credit card statement to see if they will take my money. And if they can't process the payment, they should tell me immediately. This is ridiculous.
