Now I wanted to send some money to spotify and it didn't work.
Got an Error Message that I sould enable Javascript. I can assure you that JS is definitely enabled!
Tried Safari 9.0.1 and Chrome 40 - both the same problem.
Hello. Try the following:
Disable all browser add-ons, update your Spotify account and after that , go enable all add-ons.
Well thanks for your answer, but...
...those rare plugins I use are there for security reasons - why should I disable it when it comes to credit card transactions?
Hey @lost-carrier,
Those plugins manipulate the webpage and can cause errors. If you don't want to disable your plugins, then recommend to try a different browser. It may also help to remove your cache/cookies before making the transaction.
Did I help? Please add a like!
Did I solve your issue? Please accept as the solution!
@lost-carrier the plugins usually modify or add functionalities to the web browser. For transactions with credit cards, you should be aware that on the webpage you input your payment methods has a security layer like when the web address has "https" and you can see a lock that verifies that the web page is genuine. As you can see here:
Some links to clarify concepts may be helpful:
If you still have some doubts about it and don't want to try that, maybe you can try using a computer from a friend or a relative that you can really trust and change your payment methods there.
The only plugin I have installed is Ghostery (https://www.ghostery.com). And what it does is to block loading of 3rd party Javascript like Ad-Trackers and such suspicious stuff - I very much hope that Spotify is not relying on 3rd party JS to do a credit card transaction!
@DriveFlanger trust me - I know HTTPS pretty well. It will only protect the transport channel to Spotify. As soon as you allow to load 3rd party JS you're more or less bypassing this HTTPS-security because any loaded JS can freely read all your form-fields (which is in this case the credit card details). They do not even have to wait until you submit anything - there's multiple events available for this see https://api.jquery.com/keyup/ / https://api.jquery.com/keydown/ / whatever you want...
Spotify website requires javascript to buy premium.
Someone posted about this issue before and it was because they had javascript disabled.
Sorry, didn't see the part where you mentioned javascript IS enabled. It could be that Ghostery is blocking the javascript.
Spotify's own JS is fine - 3rd-Party JS is not!
Spotify's website uses a CDN (content display network) to speed up certain files. Upon digging it seems they are hosting the JS files on a CDN. So that could be why the plugin you have enabled is blocking it.
Same problem here. I tried upgrading my account with 3 different browsers (Firefix, IE, Safari, each no plugins installed) on several computers, several internet providers and different payment methods (paypal, credit card).
Always the same error (https://www.spotify.com/de/static/javascript-disabled/ saying "Du musst Javascript zulassen, um den Einkauf zu tätigen.").
Dear Spotify, please fix your broken web application!
Same issue, also use Ghostery for the same reason. Not at all confident about entering credit card details for 3rd party JS. Never had this issue on any other site which takes payment which makes this all the more suspicious.
I am getting the same error, and Javascript is enabled.
Hmm... CDNs shouldn't be blockled. Never had issues like this with other sites - and I use my credit card a lot...
I'm using both Ghostery and uBlock Origin with the latest Firefox and just encountered the same problem, despite activated js. Deactivating both addons resolved it.
(On my droid I'm using a modified host file via adblock, that may have been the reason it also didn't work on any mobile browser I tried beforehand.)
Same problem here - not using facebook but using a spam killing hosts file (MVPS) - sure hope nobody is using any of those addresses for CC related things - ouch.
Here is a bug report, thanks.
Brief description of the issue:
When Ghostery browser addon is enabled, Optimizely is blocked which cause the Credit Card page to hang on the loading spinner.
OS: Mac OS X 10.11.5
Browser: Chrome 51 (64-bit)
Addons: Ghostery, HTTPS Everywhere, Adblock plus
Spotify app version: 1.0.29.92.g67727800
Steps to reproduce the issue:
Actual result:
The credit card payment spinner is displayed indefinitely stopping payment.
What steps you’ve tried already:
Unblocking Optimizely from within Ghostery solves the issue and this JS file loads: https://cdn.optimizely.com/js/146312396.js
