Lost all playlists, artists, songs and replaced by Afroman

Hi all

 

Rather unusual issue I'm having: today I booted up Spotify on my phone and all my playlists had dissapeared as well as the one album I had uploaded from my Mac.

 

In it's place was one playlist called 'Album' that featured mostly songs from Street Bangerz Vol 3, Kid Cudi and Afroman (of which I have never listened to).

 

It's as if my account has been switched with someone else's.

 

My artists and songs also seem to have been replaced in a similar manner.

 

I haven't been sharing my account and have only used it on my iPhone for the last couple of days (I also use it on my Macbook that only I have access to, and my HTPC that is currently dead).

 

My account is linked to my Facebook account which I use to log in with.  I have reset my facebook password this morning.

 

A further strange issue I found was occasionally when I have been driving around, Spotify playback would stop.  When I look at my phone, it would say that I am now controlling or playing back songs from 'Kurt's iPhone' or something along those lines.  A couple of times, some cheesey RnB or rap would start playing from my phone after this.

 

Please could someone advise as to what the hell is going on here and whether it is possible to restore my account to how it was?  It was fine as of last night at 21:00 when I drove home from work happily listening to non-Street Bangerz/Afroman.

I looks like your account has been accidently duplicated. 

You should get in touch with the spotify support team by using the online contact form or by tweeting @SpotifyCares on twitter. 

 

If you get an auto reply back directing you to the help pages, just reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the employees will get back to you as soon as possible.

I looks like your account has been accidently duplicated. 

You should get in touch with the spotify support team by using the online contact form or by tweeting @SpotifyCares on twitter. 

 

If you get an auto reply back directing you to the help pages, just reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the employees will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks for the quick advice, jordi.  I have done that now.  I'll post here what the outcome is.

If it's being transferred to someone else's device it definitely sounds like someone else is using your account or your account has become merged with theirs somehow.

I would suggest you also change your Spotify and/or Facebook password and then press the log out button on your online account:
https://www.spotify.com/account/overview/

I haven't shared my account with anyone, or used my account on anyone else's machine/phone.  I've only used it on my iPhone, Macbook and HTPC that hasn't been running for the last few days.

 

I already had changed my facebook password as this is how I log in to Spotify, but have also taken your advice and now reset my acual Spotify password too.
