Hi. I'm new to Spotify and just registered from an app on my phone. I opted for email-bound account, so it's not connected to Facebook so far. I also provided my username in one of the steps. I also bought Premium, since you prompted me with a 60-day free trial of your Premium. However, I just noticed my username has been automatically changed to a weird combination of symbols, and profile settings do not allow me to change it back.
I made a brief research on the issue and I have a feeling it might be about the fact I didn't allow for processing my email data. Is it something I can revert back, so I can see the actual username I provided? How do I revert it?
Hi, we all have two usernames, one on Spotify account Page, on on Our profile in Spotify app. You should see it in settings in home on The app.
As of right now, the name stays the same both on the page and inside apps (both on Android and Mac). It's 25 symbols long and looks automatically generated.

if they are then, unfortunately you only have an option of connecting it to facebook or leaving it as it. Sorry about that.
Just before you responded, I actually did link it to Facebook. My username inside the app changed after half an hour to reflect my real name provided on Facebook. Which is actually even worse than the random sequence.
Any ideas on how to change it to the username I provided, or should I have any hope it may change to the proper nickname later? Or perhaps there is a setting that allows me to choose between using my real name and my account id?
You can try to disconnect it from Facebook.

Ah, that's because I believe (or maybe I'm wrong?) the Spotify community profile is a whole different profile. I had to create an account to write here after having one for Spotify app, so I believe they are two separate accounts even if you link them to the same email.
Honestly, I don't know. Unfortunately, I can't remember how I set my username but it's the same as here, on the community, so it might be it.
Yes, it's a different profile, hence the difference between nicknames.
Unfortunately, Spotify doesn't allow us to change usernames. There has been many requests but it seems that they're not interested to make that change.
Theres also an option of creating a new account and copying your playlists onto it.
