Not receiving Device passwords

Not receiving Device passwords

I've tried getting a device password from my spotify account (Family account) so I can use spotify on a Squeezebox, but I'm not getting any emails. I've checked in spam etc, and nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hey @user-removed,

Try creating a password here: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=security&section=per_app_passwords&view

Hi Maxim,

Thanks for the suggestion. I've just tried generating an app password via Facebook, which gives me a password. I then tried authenticating on Squeezebox using both my facebook email and my spotify ID (with the Facebook generated password), and neither work.

Thanks for the info, Spotify is looking into it regarding the device password issue.

I recommend checking if Spotify Connect is supported on the other device :).

So it looks like there are a number of requests for Spotify Connect on the Logitech Media Server (which I'm using), but nothing so far - https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Squeezebox-Connect-Spotify-Connect-for-Logitech-Media-Se...

At the moment it's just a dedicated app within the LMS browser.

Just to provide some sort of resolution to this:

I've been back and forth with @SpotifyCares on Twitter, and device passwords need to be set up via Facebook if you have a Facebook linked account. There won't be any passwords emailed to you.

However, the Logitech Media Server doesn't work with a Facebook linked account, just a normal Spotify account, so I've had them remove my Facebook-linked account and I've set up a new one. And now I can finally get Spotify working on a Squeezelite player with a LMS serving the music.

In Logitech Media Server under plugins install Triodes Spotify Plugin for Spotify then click on settings. In there you can enter your account info. If your Spotify account is set up through Facebook you have to use the same login credentials for Facebook. The user ID given in the Spotify account settings and passwords generated through Spotify and Facebook are no good, you have to log on just like you were logging into your Facebook account.

Cheers for the advice,

I don't have a Facebook linked account anymore, but will definitely try this if anyone else using our system does.
