Spotify won't stop "installing"

I've been on Spotify premium for a while now and have never had a problem with it until now. Now the app won't open or close and can't be deleted. The app also says "installing" underneath the icon and it has been this way for almost a week now. The app icon is a plain gray square and nothing happens when you click on it. What do I need to do?

What platform is this issue occuring on? By what you're describing, I'm going to assume you're using an iPhone.

Have you restarted the phone at all since trying to install the app? If not, you should do so.

This sounds like an issue with the iOS/the appstore though, I don't believe this is caused by Spotify.

I had this same issue. When I restarted my iPhone, the Spotify app was gone but I reinstalled it and now it's working.

i had the same problem on a windows laptop, so it is spotify causing the problem not the app store that you are using
