My Question or Issue

The Spotify app is showing some garbage name in both my phone and desktop app. The payment receipt of one year subscription also has that weird name in it.

Previously it used to display correct name but from today it is showing some weird name. How can I resolve this issue?

Hey @amannv2,

Thanks for reaching out. Welcome to the community!

Currently, when you sign up, Spotify automatically generates a random username, but you're able to choose a profile name.

Usernames and profile names can't be modified; however, other users will be able to find you with the profile name you chose, and the random username won't show up on your Spotify profile.

Sometimes the random username is displayed in the app, but it usually updates itself after a little while with the profile name you chose when creating your account.

For more information, check out this support article: Change Username

Let me know if you have any questions. Happy listening 🙂

I've tried all those steps, nothing works. No profile picture and incorrect
name is displayed

Hey @amannv2,

The Spotify app should update itself after a little while with your profile picture and the profile name you chose when creating your account.

If the app doesn't update itself in a few days, you could try a quick clean reinstallation of the app by following these steps.

Thanks @Noah-S

I really appreciate your help but I've created Spotify account about one
and a half year back. Also, I've tried clean reinstallation as well but
it's not working, idk why.

Hey @amannv2,

Did you create your Spotify account using Facebook?

It's been more than a year, and as far as I recall, I didn't used Facebook to create Spotify account

Hey @amannv2,

Could you check that logged into the correct account? It's possible to create multiple Spotify accounts, each with their own login details, saved music, and subscription.

For more information, check out this support article.

Keep me posted 🙂

Thanks, that answer helped me.

Somehow Spotify was not able to fetch data from Facebook, linked it again and granted permission. Now it's all fine.

Thanks 🙂
