If I do the free 30 day trial, can I still do the discounted student plan if I decide to keep it? Or by choosing the free 30 day trial do I automatically have to stick to a $9.99/mo plan?

That is a good question. If you are eligible for a free trial Premium and you get it, it'll auto-renew on the normal price. However, after the trial month ends, you can switch to the Student Discount anytime you want. Currently Student Discount is for users in the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany. Check the FAQ of your country for more information! 🙂
