So i have Spotify on my AVR, PC, Android Mobile, but not in my car. Not a big problem, just connect the phone via bluetooth.
Works like a charm, the only downside, the Song/Album/Artist information is not transmited when using the spotify android app. A quick test with the default android player shows that this works perfectly. I see song/album/artist on the car display.
So please, add this functionality to the android app. (to spare you the search implement A2DP/AVRCP 1.3 🙂

As rosey99 said, I too have started to look into Google's music service due to this limitation on the Android app. There are tons of outstanding feature requests I have found implemented in Google's music service vs Spotify. Please quit making your app look metro and implement core functionality. You have all the time in the world to make things look pretty over being first to the market...
Pleas add, I want this function.
Using the XDA modified version... that proves that the changes needed is not that difficult. So whats the hold up? Loving using spotify in my car, perfect combination.
Latest July version of Spotify with bluetooth track info support ... Why do you guys at Spotify make us use custom versions of Spotify when functionality is so easy to fix/add?
Why isn't there a Spotify app for the NOKIA N97 "Symbian" phone.
I realy like this phone and hate it to buy another.
@WimTeDe - There is (I think)! On your mobile point your browser to https://m.spotify.com/ and follow the prompts to install.

Actually, this works now with the official client, atleast in Android 4.3 (but should work with any phone that has AVRCP enabled, Samsung, CM10). Unfortunately, in 4.2 the change of BT stack removed AVRCP support, so you need either a 4.1 or 4.3.
Uninstalled the official Spotify release and reinstalled with this version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?s=8449c5277fd9d77f1670427ec6e674cd&p=43632415#post436... This fixed the "skipping issue" with Ford My Touch and gave me at least some metadata via bluetooth. I cannot believe Spotify hasn't added this in to the client natively.
So the official client spotify app now works (transmit track info/meta data via bluetooth) in Samsung S3 ver. 4.1????
Can someone confirm this?
No need to download "hacked version"?
Support for this!
Unbelievable it's not available NOW!
II just got a Pioneer DEH-X8500, with Parrot.
Streaming from my SGS Note 2(4.1.2), i got music but not trackinfo. (same as everybody else).
Stock musicplayer in android/TouchWiz works with track-info.
This should be a 5min fix for Spotify
android connected to my car through bluetooth :
iphone connected to my car through bluetooth:
conclusion:
spotify dev can do it...but on iphone 😞
This really needs to be completed on Android, this is such a cool feature for in car media and would avoid the need to develop unique applications for different vehicle brands.
In my case it looks slightly different. I have working navigations keys and I can see metadata info... from native player not from spotify.
Spotify developer team: please fix this becouse it's loook ridiculous.
What are you talking about here? This already works.
AFAIK, AVRCP came with Android 4.3.
Spotify playing via BT in my VW Passat 2013
Kinda sucks having such a nice stereo to look at in my truck while the tunes are bumping and seeing " no data provided" on the screen.
