[Android] Car View missing under Settings

Solved!

[Android] Car View missing under Settings

Hi there. I have always used the car mode, since Friday last week it isn't working - I haven't changed any settings at all that I know of.

The car mode in Spotify is not even there anymore? I use an Android and I connect to a bluetooth device in my car.

Can I revert back to a previous version that still has the car view settings until your test is complete? If so, how ?

Where can i download this APK ?

Can you post a link please.

@2112ken
It appears that the moderators have taken the post that had the link down. I believe updown or something similar was in the link but as to the rest of it I'm sorry but I cant remember it. To all those reading this and didn't get the link again I'm sorry that I cant remember it. Shame on you Mr. Moderator, not only has Spotify broken something (Car View) that was a great feature but you have also hurt those that want to identify a song when memory has fades them which is what Car View did. Were we spoilt, you bet we were and we loved it so bring it back.

Here's the link. Found it in my browser history: https://spotify.en.uptodown.com/android/download/2830278

I didn't think of browser history, clever thinking.....

I’ve also given up waiting for Spotify to fix this problem. I was going crazy following the flaky fix instructions to resurface the “Car Mode” settings every time I got into my car. So I’ve also download to the old working version 8.5.82.894.

Very frustrated with Spotify’s response to this problem. And this is not the first time UX changes have been made which simply do not made any sense. The “liked songs” debacle a while back was a total disaster. Who’s in charge of Spotify UX?

@2112ken

I would hardly call us spoiled. Having a horizontal mode in 2020 on a media app should just be standard by now.

I like how you took away Car View that replaced Landscape Mode which was completely functional and now you're claiming that it's for test purposes. The BS train left a while ago but thanks anyway, Ivan.

I'm manually updating an old phone in the hope that Car View returns, updated tonight 04/12/2020 version 8.5.87.921, still NO Car VIEW

Spotify now remains open when I'm using it, however I prefer the simple view with the larger buttons while driving. I just feel safer that way.

This was the reason I used car view as well on my car stereo. The regular interface on a landscape screen is too cluttered and cramped to use safely while driving. I can't believe it's been 3 weeks and 7 pages into this thread and Spotify hasn't figured this out. We need car view to be reliable in a car.

Time to add this feature back in. Crazy that it's been removed.

If you were testing how many people would notice then plenty of us did.

Logging off an in again solves the problem for me - but only for a few short-lived minutes. The car view mode (in German: Automodus) appears, but disappears after closing the app.

At least it works while driving. Still quite an annoyance.

What's even worse, is if you go back to the first page - this is listed as "solved". I even had to edit out my post that was tagged as the solution so no one would waste their time. I think I'm going to need to follow up with my online support ticket and get a direct follow up as we are essentially being ignored.

@MC1489
You mention a online support ticket, is that via this forum topic or is there an option with Spotify to lodge tickets, if so where is it because I would do the same and if all those that have commented on this forum topic did the same we might get some action.
I wont hold my breath but it's worth a try.

It's direct chat support or can convert to email if they/you are too busy. In my second chat of troubleshooting they linked me to the topic here and said the more people that come here the more traction this thread gets the more support will get on it. This is why i posted my solution at the time (before i realized it was temporary) was due to my online chat. https://support.spotify.com/us/contact-spotify-support/
That is the link^

We're not your BETA testers.

Hey all forum readers of the Car View saga.
The link that MC1489 posted is what each of us should use. I just had a lengthy chat with Joyce telling her what is missing and how I want it restored, all done very politely, (we dont want to offend anyone and especially the MODERATORS) I hope I got my message across, only time will tell.
I think if everyone that has had a say on the topic of Car View was to log the issue with Spotify support it may wake someone up, a fix might get done but until then and as I told Joyce I wont be updating from the old version anytime soon.
Here's the link https://support.spotify.com/us/contact-spotify-support/

Just chatted with them as well. Got the basic questions and told them the problem. Got the same standard reply with "new fetures" and all that but I then linked this thread and asked them to read it when they had time. She read some of it and understood we are frustrated and said she will put in a word for me. So if you contact them, be polite and link them this forum thread and ask them to read. If you want med to share the transcript I can do that.

Yeah, being polite will definitely get you further. If I have been seemingly more stern in this thread is because several times they said to do 'xyz' even after many of us said that isn't working. Again, this thread is also mislabeled as "solved" to the point where i had to edit my "solution" post because it was misinformation. During my chats with them, the support brought me to this thread and i feel going back to the chat has gone full circle almost a month later with no solution for a PAID service.
