My Question or Issue

When opening the app, the home section does not load at all. My library takes about 10minutes to load, and even then not all playlists load. When playing any playlist, there is lag between playing and the music starting. Likewise, the pause button does not respond until a minute after pressed. The music continues even after all apps are manually closed on the phone.

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, cleared cache, force stopped the app, installed a previous version, restarted phone and none of these have made any difference.

I should add - this happens on WiFi and data so the WiFi isn't the issue. Other apps all work completely fine on the connection. It's been happening for ~12 hours and the app was fine yesterday. It seems to have happened since the phone updated to use Galaxy One UI 7

Having same issue, app is all but useless

Probably going to cancel premium if this isn't resolved soon, ridiculous at this point, no indication they are even aware of it!

My Question or Issue

My phone and app are both currently both updated. I have tried to clear cache, restart phone, unistall app and still the app us not working for me. I cant get anything to play or load on my app. It either shows loading, errors out or does not respond. I can sign in to accoubt and use app on other apple/android devices but not mine. Has been going on for two weeks. I was hopeful would work with next update but was not the case.

Hi there @BrightEyes56,

Thanks for reaching out and kudos for all the troubleshooting you've tried!

Since you were able to use your account on other devices, that rules out any account-related issues. You mentioned reinstalling the app so we wanted to check if you've tried performing a clean reinstall? It's more thorough and removes any damaged cache that might be interfering with the app.

Another thing that comes to mind is checking if the issue persists with a different internet connection - another WiFi, mobile data, hotspot from a different device, etc. In case you're using any battery optimization settings, we recommend turning them off to see if that makes a difference and make sure that Spotify is granted all the necessary permissions in your phone's settings.

Let us know how it goes.

Hello! I've done a clean reinstall and the problem is the same. I have also tried using Spotify on different WiFis, and using only mobile data. Does not work in any case and I have already turned off battery optimizations while trying to solve this problem. Unfortunately the app is still not loading/working.

Hey @BrightEyes56,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

That's an odd behavior since the app should work properly after the reinstall process. So to continue investigating this issue, would you mind checking if you've enough storage available? We'd recommend this since the app's proper function may be affected by this.

Also, in order to look into this further with the relevant teams, let us know the following info:

- OS version of the affected device

- Exact Spotify version you're currently running

Also, and if possible; could you record a short video where we can take a better look at the issue you're having? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

We'll be on the lookout for your response.

I have plenty of storage. 50+ gbs

The Spotify version is Version9.0.66.655

The main screen of spotify always opens, sometimes loads but when I click on anything it just circles until it errors out. And sometimes I click on something and nothing happens. The icon "blinks"  but nothing changes

Hey @BrightEyes56,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for sending the requested info.

Just to make sure we've covered all the possibilities, it would be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member to see if the issue persists as it's working properly on other devices. You can also create a new account just for testing purposes in case you couldn't find another one. If the issue persists with a different account, it could be device-related.

Also, can you recall if the issue started after an OS or Spotify update?

Lastly and if possible, if the behavior is not related to a Spotify update, it might be necessary to perform a Factory reset of your device as it seems to be something affecting the proper behavior of the app. We'd also suggest making sure of checking the process and all the warnings before performing it.

We'll be waiting for your response.

I created a new account and the app wont fully log in. Stuck in loading bubble/loop.

I do not recall if it started right after an update I have those set up automatically so it's a possibility. The timing does line up with when it started glitching though.

I completely a factory reset just to see and unfortunately that also did not resolve the issue.

Hey @BrightEyes56,

We merged this thread with a similar issue we have on the forum to keep things in one place, hope you don't mind.

In addition to what @Maria has suggested in regard to the SD card removal (if such is present on your device; I think it isn't on this model), there's a few more things we can try:

  • To rule out any battery optimization settings - connect the power cable to the phone in order to initiate charging and see if the app would behave any differently
  • See if changing your phone's settings as described here would help out

For anyone new experiencing this:

  • Please go over the troubleshooting steps in this thread
  • If nothing helps, let us know your device's make & model, as well as its OS version and your Spotify app version

All the best, folks! We'll be on the lookout for new replies in the thread 🙂

I tried all things that were suggested and do not have SD card. Attempted all setting changes and made sure everything was turned off/reset and app is not better.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S22

The Spotify version is Version9.0.66.655

Hey again @BrightEyes56,

We've passed on your info so that our tech folks can check if there's anything specific within your setup that might be causing this issue. My assumption is that it may have something to do with the recent UI update but for now we can't know for sure.

In the meantime, as your account does work with other devices and you've done a factory reset on yours already, we'd suggest you reach out to the device manufacturer (Samsung) in order to see if there's anything they know about such cases and if there's something they can do.

Let us know in case anything new comes up on your end and we'll do the same 🙂 Many thanks!

Hey again @BrightEyes56,

Hope you're doing well!

Something else we can try here is resetting your device's network settings. This can be done by going to

Settings > General management > Reset > Reset network settings 🙂
Always make sure the app is up to date.

Hope this helps! Keep us posted on how things go 🙌🏼

I was coincidentally due for a new phone and got one that is not Samsung. Google Pixel 9 and it also does not work. Which is interesting because I have signed on to a friends Google Pixel 7 and it worked fine. It's very confusing.

Hey @BrightEyes56,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

To continue investigating this, would you mind confirming if the Samsung phone, the Google pixel 9 and the Google Pixel 7 were connected to the same Wi-Fi network? If so, could you try it on a different network (or mobile data) to see if the issue persists?

Also, we'd recommend resetting the network settings on your phones to see if it makes any difference.

Lastly, if you have any specific DNS set to your router for gaming, latency or stability (Cloudflare "1.1.1.1" or Google Public DNS "8.8.8.8"), we'd recommend changing the DNS settings on your router to "Automatic" as this could affect the proper behavior of different services.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

No, this is an ongoing issue. There is a bug i the android app - the internet is full of people complaining. The settings things and clearing does not help. Only way it works is if i uninstall and reinstall, and just now, right after i allowed accsess to bluetooth settings for spotifiy app... yhe app AGAIN doesnt load anything. This has been going on for MONTHS. And please, i've doe all these "tricks" by heart and logic, i came looking for actual solutions. Right now i will start looking for the apk file from 2024 or something because there is no solution in sight.

I am also having this issue on a Galaxy A15 5G running One UI 7. The app is so laggy that it is completely unusable. I had to download an APK of Spotify Lite in order to use Spotify (it isn't available in my country), but it doesn't support local files, so I would really like for this issue to be fixed so I can use the regular app. The app was working fine before the One UI 7 update (although I am not sure if it was the cause). It seems like some background service is getting stuck - it takes up to 10 seconds for the music to actually play or pause when I press the button and for any other action involving songs/the library to complete - but the UI is not frozen. It will occasionally work correctly for a minute but stops working again. All my music is downloaded, so it is not my network connection that is causing the issue. I tried clearing the app data and cache and it didn't help. I am using the latest version of the app.
