Feedback Request: Android Offline Issues

Solved!

Feedback Request: Android Offline Issues

Hello everyone! Spotify here.

We are looking into customer reports about issues with offlined playlists on Android (music which is downloaded to your phone so you can play without an internet connection). Our investigation shows that some folks might have experienced some issues with this so we were hoping you could answer some questions to help us diagnose the problem.

1. Have you made a playlist available offline which you could not play without any internet connection?

2. Have you made a playlist available offline which constantly downloads when you start Spotify?

Thanks,
Team Spotify

@berocore Have you tried uninstalling spotify then reinstalling it?

@jwylot I've tried that multiple times. Even deleting the cache.

I hope I am in the right area. Please let me know if this answer has all ready been answered.

I just upgraded my Spotify. and when i go to download music to listen to it later it says i need to upgarde. Is there something i missed? do i need to restart? Its driving me crazy. I feel like an old man.  I am still in the 30 day free trial but i have put my hard on file all ready. and ready to go.

@shirleyface Please try the steps in this post to get your premium working.

I uninstalled the app yesterday again and deleted the folder that all the app data lives in as per this guide.  http://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Android/Android-Troubleshooting-Spotify/td-p/113082

and everything seems to be working.  I have restricted playist to below 150 songs just incase so the only bug that seems to exsist is the lack of coverart etc thats already been reported for 4.4.  I won't know 100% that everything is ok until i do some proper testing at work on monday so fingers crossed.  Not sure why the app data isn't deleted during an uninstall if something in that data has the ability to corrupt an install it seems silly to leave it behind.  People like me just end up thinking spotify is broken rather than just an install problem.

After updating to the latest android version of spotify I have had problems downloading my local files to my phone. All my local files are mp3 files and they are located in the same folder so I have no clue why some songs are synchronized while others aren't? Any suggestions out there besides finding all the song in spotify which is not a satisfying solution for me!?

@pablo_paul79 Great. Thanks for the update 🙂

@Bella-Puella I replied to your other post.

I'm just quoting the first post in this thread as a reminder of what it is about.

I have two problems with downloaded playlists that happen regularly. First they delete/undownload themselves - seems mostly to happen if my device is powering back on but seems to have happened on other occasions. I have had to re-download the same playlists multiple times. Secondly most of the downloaded tracks "skip" like an old cd or as if they are buffering even if I am completely offline. It happens multiple times in a row on many tracks. It's very rare I make it through one whole track without it skipping.

I'd really like to be able to listen to my downloaded playlists at work but the constant skipping makes it pretty much impossible.

I have had many problems with spotify, as documented on pages 9 and 10.

I got it to a point that it was usable and managed with having to give spotify a nudge now and then (to the next track) to get it playing again.

Then the other day my SD card corrupted (on the day the trial ended and I was charged of all days!) and was no good and unrecognisable to the phone and windows on PC.

I have since replaced the Generic card with a branded Sandisk one and now spotify is working flawlessly, (including artwork when offline)

Today, there were two occasions when the tracks went quiet, but I was glad to find that it was just me leaning on the volume button while my phone was in my pocket. (I did go the other way and deafen myself as well once!)

I'd recommend having a read through my posts and see if you can relate to the issues I had, then considering changing replacing your card (if applicable and possible)

I have changed from a generic unbranded 64Gb card to a Sandisk class 10 16Gb card.

I hope this is helpful to someone, as i know the frustrations that go with spotify not working!

Good luck.

I'm a happy camper now!

@davejp84 Thanks for posting that. Cheap SD cards do seem to cause no end of issues and not just with spotify so you make a valid point. Enjoy your music 🙂

I'm having problem number 2 with my downloaded music. Everytime I start the app, one playlist in particular gets hung up and needs to download. It appears that the issue lies with the fact that I only have local tracks in this playlist, while the other ones are all Spotify tracks.

Hi. I never change to offline mode. Should I? I downloaded all my play lists and all was well, I listen to playlists away from internet. Today all off my playlists have un downloaded themselves from my phone. Why would this happen?

I have problem number 2 with my premium account. 64gb Samsung SD card. Already have done multiple clean installs.

Had usual issue friday. Offline play list worked in way to work in car. On way home would not play with message of "no internet connection" . Even when back at home had same error message and couldn't get anything to work. I uninstalled the app again and reinstalled it. Interestingly the collection option has now been removed. Offline playlist worked fine today, all day. Maybe collection was the issue.

I use offline spotify in the car, it works great but the listing of the playlists is written in to tiny chars , dangerous whyle driving! It would be really great to have the possibility to swype from one playlist to another and seeing the big icon of the list, exactly as you can move within the songs in a playlist.

Iie: horizontal swipe you move from song to song, vertical swipe you move from playlist to playlist...

All my downloaded playlists deleted when the app updated and now my music won't play online (and it won't recognise any online connection) or offline (it won't re-download my playlists). the app constantly freeze crashes and won't play any music at all.

I am a premium User by the way

I am a Premium user.

The app complains there is no room on the SD card, when 28GB remains.

I've cleared the app cache, logged out, cleared the app data, uninstalled, rebooted, removed any directories "*Spotify*", reinstalled from the Play store,... And still no space left on device.

Am I able to get a refund for my subscription please?

Why is storage in Spotify such a muddle and a black art? I would expect to have option for storage location, and to be able to report on space usage.
