Other apps keep interrupting Spotify?

Hey guys

Premium user here.

I've recently switched from iPhone to Android (Google pixel 3 to be exact) and I keep experiencing this issue where other apps constantly interrupt and pause my Spotify?

For example, when I watch Snapchat videos it will pause my Spotify music in the background when on iPhone I had the option to just put my phone on silent and watch the video without noise unless I turned the volume up during the video playback. When I scroll through Instagram, the same thing happens. Every time I scroll past a video it plays with sound and interrupts Spotify. Every time I try to turn media on silent it turns Spotify to silent (no volume) as well.

This is really frustrating me. I've done a lot of research and found a handful of users out there experiencing the same issue but can't seem to find an answer.

I have only just returned to Spotify after using Apple music for years (I left Spotify due to a bad experience but now that I'm back on Android I thought I'd give it another shot) and it hasn't been as faith-restoring as I thought it'd be.. am I just Android illiterate? Please help!!

I just stumbled upon this old thread, Just because i looked through the settings of my phone, through app permissions and then found this here.

Is this seriously a "PROBLEM" that can't be fixed easily?

This seems like a feature thats default anywhere except here. Do i pay only for the music? Can't you at least try to improve such small things. :c

So since Spotify refuse to acknowledge this issue until there is an 'idea' submitted, I did just that. The link to this idea is below, upvote if you want to see this issue resolved.

Unfortunately your Idea was closed for being "similar" to another Idea (by moderator Alex).  In reality, the "similar" Idea is not similar at all and you were simply told to shut up.

This company sh!ts on its users every chance it gets. Just look at the myriad of complaint topics about features that have gone missing from the app or don't work as the majority of people expect them to. This forum is filled with canned responses from Spotify staff, leaving users dangling.

they obviously make alot of money out of ads that interrupt the music and that is the bottom line. the only solution is to stop subscribing to spotify as they have demonstated that this is “expected behaviour”. therefore They want this to happen. It doesn’t matter what their clients want.

Samsung´s phones can do the trick!

Set the device to play media sound from a specific app on the connected Bluetooth speaker or headset. For example, you can listen to the Navigation app through your device’s speaker while listening to playback from the Music app through the vehicle’s Bluetooth speaker.

Step 1. Open the Settings.

Step 2. Select Sounds and vibration.

Step 3. Select Separate app sound.

Step 4. Tap the switch to turn on.

Step 5. Tap Select.

Step 6. Select the multimedia app you would like to hear sound from on a different device. Then, tap Back.

Step 7. Select the Audio device you want to use for this app. Bluetooth devices will only be shown while they’re connected. Then, tap Back.

Spotify used to allow you to change this behaviour. I recently returned to spotify and this whole thread has left me with a bad taste in my mouth, from the canned replies to the suggestion being shut down when someone finally did follow the canned reply advice. Big middle finger is the solution apparently. 

I wont be using the app as much as I would have before, as I browse twitter a lot with audio on and continual stopping whenever I scroll past a cat video basically makes it unusable. 

Fix the bug. It's not hard, it's not our fault, it's not down to us to keep screaming into this void and it shouldn't be a four year mission for something so basic.

Toggling this switch to off in my spotify settings seems to have worked for me when I had a similar issue.

It's not expected behavior, it's assumed behavior. I am playing Christmas music for the family and browsing Reddit and any link with a video interrupts it. If I unknowingly click a jumpscare link it could really scare them.

Also this site is AWFUL. It is making this box uneditable after a minute and I have to refresh. These forums are so user hostile and it is outrageous that we pay for this service and all we get are buggy and hard to navigate forums. I am so tired of awful service but what options do we have. Spotify does not care aboutnits users.
