My Question or Issue
I assumed this was a bug and have been waiting for a fix, but I worry actually that this may be a misfeature.
On the search "view" (page, screen?) there are a list of my previous searches, clicking on any of them simply plays that song again, whereas in almost all cases (and historically) I used the list of previous searches to *repeat that search*.
This bug/misfeature breaks the workflow of repeating a search and then using that “⋮” menu on some/all of the results to add the song to a queue, or the same menu to browse the artist/album.
Spotify is generally a hot mess of breaking UI workflows and forcing people to learn workarounds, but this new behaviour on the search results list renders the search function entirely unusable for me and my family.

Currently the Search function on Mobile will give you a list of recently searched for and played songs. This is intended to give you an ease of access to recently played songs.
Spotify constantly strives to improve the user experience with its features and the easiest way to achieve this is by regular app updates. That’s why we appreciate you taking the time to share your suggestion with the Community.
If you think other users might also like it, go ahead and create an idea on the relevant idea board. We always take new ideas and feedback into consideration to improve the app. Here you can read more on how ideas work.
We also suggest checking this help article for useful tips on how to submit an idea. As a heads-up, it's good to know that the higher the number of votes an idea gets, the more likely it is for the idea to be implemented.
Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any more questions.
