Why does my Spotify playlist look different?

My Question or Issue

When I opened my playlist, it looked different than usual. Instead of a song list, it only displayed song names and the artist/composer. When I try to play a song in the playlist, it only plays for a few seconds. What is going on? I have attached an image below for proof.

Hi there @snowleopard1871,

Thanks for the post.

This is how playlists look on the free version of Spotify. You can only play your playlists in Shuffle mode, but can still re-arrange songs in a list view, where you can play a short preview of each song.

Note that if you've created your account just recently, there is a 7 day grace period where the app has the functionality of Spotify Premium, so you can check out the full capabilities of the Premium subscription. After the grace period is over, the app switches to the Spotify free layout. You can learn more about this here.

Hope this clarifies what's going on. Don't hesitate to reach out again if you have questions.

I don't like this new update. It doesn't allow me to play the songs I want to. I sometimes grow out of aong I can be obsessed with at the time but doesn't mean I don't want to listen to that song. I think Spotify should go back to the way it was.

Can you please remove this feature? I can't even listen to the songs I like because, whenever I press shuffle, it plays a random song that I didn't even add to my playlist. Also, it seems to work just fine on my mum's iPhone, and my friend's MacBook, why can't us Android users ever catch a break?
